Is Someone Hijacking My Traffic???

I noticed yesterday that when I look up my website in the serps - the address is the following:

http://www.bla bla dot com/?hop=ksvpss

The last part of that has me a little scared. The ?hop=ksvpss - isn't that a hop link like to a clickbank site or something??? All I know is that I didn't put it there.

My traffic is the same and I have google ads on it. I've heard of hijacked traffic and all that - maybe that's happening to me??? Just wondering if someone could explain this to me.

Thank you.

well - it's not redirecting - it still goes right to my website. It just now has [domain name] dot com/?hop=ksvpss

It's landing on my index page - but the address is showing the above. I don't get it...

    I checked my traffic - it's average.

Maybe its a canonicalization url to your homepage? are you using any cms? or eCommerce systems? if so it will have different types of links for homepage. Once google crawls those link it will display them.
Try redirecting that link to your main homepage url.

like I said earlier, you might be using some cms or any thing that runs your website on?
      some thing you have installed.

I'm not using any CMS like WP or Joomla. I did HTML and CSS on notepad and uploaded it to my host - Godaddy. The website is three months old and all of the sudden - I see these "hoplinks" on my index URL.

Now - I'm seeing backlinks from one place that sells Viagra. I looked up the site - found it that it's a scam place - so I'm thinking something is going on.

The answer may be simple. Simple speculation, that is.

Anything in a url with a "?" is ignored by your browser.
That is, you can put ?=blahblah after any url and it will go
the the url without the ? stuff.

The ?= would be read by some database program. It would only
have meaning if there was something like php getting a value
and passing it on to a mysql databse. Or similar. If that does not
exist, than the whole thing is meaningless. You can add ?=anything
and it will be completely ignored.

Now the next part is probably the old way of doing CB affiliate links.
The domain sales page would have instructed you to make the affiliate url:
      salesdomain.com/?hop=cbusername
It would pass your user name on and you would get credit for the sale.

Putting both of these together we can "speculate" that a person is just
grabbing any domain urls that appear to be clickbank products and
building backlinks using this hoping to steal some sales.

Again, anything with a ? is ignored if nonexistent. So, if it did not
pass a value on, the whole thing is pointless.

      Just see where:
      http://www.warriorforum.com/?=blahblahblah
      goes.

I assume shortly a backlink will be found to the above site.
But the page is completely meaningless and does not exist, so
      your browser ignores it.

About the backlinks, I had a client who's competitor/ex-seo company did the same to him. Build over 10,000 links within a week from Viagra websites. On google results his website results were showing up like "this site might be harmful yada yada"
If you are getting bunch of these links for that url I would advice you to block that url for the search engines using robot.txt

I think this is due to this type of unwanted and restricted back links as you have mentioned above. Google might be caught your site, Now your concern should be, From Where this scammed back links your site had caught through? I would like to know Had you set up Google analytic for your site?

Yes I do have GA setup.

UPDATE: I hired a backlinker from Indonesia to do profile links. Welllll - he did a good job doing that, but as far as backlinking from the Canadian Pharmacy website - I asked him if he did it...he didn't answer me. So now the project is complete, the backlinks from the Canadian Pharmacy website is going away (I'm seeing less and less links drop off when I check in Yahoo) and my adsense and traffic is actually doing a little better.

I think the problem is resolved - except for that crazy hoplink still showing up in the SERPs (added onto my URL).
