Help! What did I do wrong?

Hi Everyone,

A couple months ago I created my very first sniper site, which started out on the middle of page two for google.

After adding more pages and doing article submissions (4 well-spun articles, to about 1000 sites each via Article Marketing Robot to 100 sites a day with no pings, so backlinks could be "discovered" naturally) I got to position 10 on page 1.

After three weeks, of this, and occasional blog comments, I moved back down to page 2.

Next I tried creating forum registration profile links, between 20-30 per day, with pings for about 3 weeks.

After a month of doing this, last week I started the google dance, and I ended up on page *6*. (this is my home page we are talking about. One of my inner pages is on page 2 of google and has not moved since the site went live. All of my backlink efforts were to the homepage)

What did I do wrong?

I put some much effort into this site, I'm really disappointed and frustrated.

Can someone enlighten me?

I was trying to get my website:
maskersfortinnitus(dot)com to rank for "maskers for tinnitus".

I feel like an idiot.

I've easily put a hundred hours into my site by now, haven't made a cent and I've only been punished for my efforts.

What should I do?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Because your site is new, Google have no trust with your site, so I sugest you keep building good content and quality links from authority site within you niche or from relevant pages. You can build link from Web 2.0, Build My Rank (top blog network), video sites, Social Networking sites, Quest Posts. I bet your site will ranked back on the top of Google again and stronger than ever before as you will gain Google trust by building quality page and links.

Try to add more content on your site and build some quality backlink from your niche. After some time Google start noticing your site and ranking will be Google and stable. Focus on Backlink and content part.

It could be how the Article marketing robot did it.
Maybe it did too much at one time raising the spam flag in there eyes.

The software I use has sheduling so I can set it to submit then take it easy for a little while then go back at it

I don't think you would need much more content for a sniper site..
I say, get them links, and ping them, book mark them, RSS them.

    And wait.

When your new like this, google can bully you around for a little while till all your backlinks are indexed and you start to gain authority.. x)

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

All that auto submission and forum profiles probably flagged a spam flag. Generally these auto programs are considered to be a bit black hat i thought??

You absolutely need unique, keyword rich content. (Don't go overboard with your keywords though.)

Spun content, or content from article directories, etc, isn't as effective as it used to be.

try creating web 2.0 links. you'll see after 2-3 months your 1st page ranking will stick and if you help your web 2.0 properties and update them your site might bump top 3 depending on your on site seo too

    Thanks for the input, everyone.

I think I got frustrated when I was working on doing things "slow and steady" for weeks at a time without seeing any results, so I thought "more would be better".

I guess I just need to learn some patience, go slow, and bide my time.

    Thanks again!

I'll leave the rest to others, but I will point out one major thing which I quoted above. You have to backlink your inner pages as well, not just your homepage.

When a real authority website receives natural links, for example let's take CNN.com, are people just always linking to CNN.com (main page) or are they rather linking to all sorts of random pages such as cnn.com/happening-news-story.htm, etc?

I would slow down linking your home page and now link your inner pages. The one inner page you have sitting at page 2, you can carefully backlink that to page 1 probably. As for the rest, don't give up, it will work out over time.... though I would recommend trying to get some quality links rather than doing AMR blasts and forum profile blasts.

In my personal opinion it sounds like it's the quality of your backlinks and weak on-site optimization that is hindering your sites ranking. Then again you may have targeted some keywords/niche that may be a little too competitive for you. That's not an insult... Some things are just much harder to rank for.

The easy way (automated way) is FAR from the best way... But everyone wants that quick and easy fix.

If you perfect your on-site SEO and work on the off-site SEO, you should rank easily. Jumpy, jump and dance for a month or two.

      CHEERS!

Don't think of it as a punishment. Your sites should start to rank better and put in proper positions after a few months.

You could have taken the help of an seo and he could have ranked your site easily within a week. You did wrong by overly promoting your site.So much effort was not needed at all.Only proper caching by google and one strong backlink would have done the trick.Proper on page changes was also necessary which I cant tell here!

It looks like you're promoting a Clickbank product. Others will know more about this than me, but I was recently reading here on the forum that Google has slapped sites that promote Clickbank products that have to do with the health field (and I would assume medical too).

Search around for info on that, or maybe someone will come to this thread and give you more info on it.

Thanks everyone. That was a host of useful info.

I'm certainly not insulted by comments that I may have bitten off more than I can chew. It's becoming a little more obvious as I go, and I learn best when I learn the reasons why things work and why they don't.

I'm going to slow down, work on inner pages, and see what the future holds.

    Thanks everyone!
