Anything with pyramid in the title must be a bad idea. Do you not remember the 90's?? The backlinks method from everywhere you consider, review and deem to be good is the way forward

I'm assuming that by "link pyramid" you mean:

    You <-- Link <-- Link

The logic behind link pyramids is to ensure that pages with links pointing to your "money page":

    1. get/stay indexed, and
    2. continue gaining in "linking power".

The idea is based on two assumptions:

    a. The best links are from high-PR authority sites.
    b. Spammy links don't help much with rankings, but the search engine bots still use them to discover/spider/reindex other pages.

So, you use the best links to point to your own site (because they help increase your rankings) and you point the less-valuable links to the pages with your best links (because they help those pages that help you rank get/stay index and gain even more "link juice" power).

In practice, you use only 2 tiers (best links tier + other links tier), because creating more tiers doesn't help much your own site and the cost of building more tiers becomes prohibitive.

      thank you for answer

but why just don't find ALREADY high authority places and just place there backlink to your main site

so in other words, just to use TIER 1 without TIER 2

Yes, that has been the practice for years. However, getting/keeping pages indexed into/by Google could sometimes be a challenge and Google has recently been showing reluctance to index some type of pages, even if they are on high-trust domains.

Additionally, for the links to count, you also want to make sure the pages are in the main index, as opposed to the supplemental one. And, links that Google can follow to re-spider those pages are the best tool to ensure that.

I do not see that pyramid links is bad as if you are doing in a safe margin, you will be alright.

  • Essentially, a link pyramid strengthens the main backlinks pointing back to your site. In a pyramid, backlinks are built to backlinks, giving you more link juice.
