Slow indexing - bad sign ?

I bought an old domain, and it took a long time for it to get indexed (15 days), but now new pages get indexed relatively ok. Could the slow index be a bad sign, or is it just because old domains get re-indexed slower, or is it some other explanation ?

None of these are the reason for slow indexing. It mainly depends upon how frequently you are updating it with unique content.

  so maybe you could do things like ping when there is a new page to keep the SEs noticing your blog quicker and indexing these pages quicker.

  I updated it daily with original stuff, and I got some article links. I didn't ping though, maybe here lies the problem. Btw, what sites would be most recommended for pinging?
