Has Anyone Heard of Social Monkey?

I recently signed up for an internet service called Social Monkey. It claimed to be able to generate backlinks to your website on a daily basis depending on whether you were a free or premium member. It was something like 25 backlinks for a single site per day for free members and 100 backlinks for up to 3 sites per day for premium members.

SocialMonkee - Your Instant Backlink Builder!

that's the link to the site.

Thank you very much! All input is much appreciated.

  • I heard about this one a few months ago and have tried it a little. Once you have more than a few pages to promote then the 'once a day' thing is a little frustrating for the free service, but even 3 times a day for the paid service isn't all that much. I don't know exactly how effective it's been, but it's free and can't hurt. I did notice that FireFox 4 says the Social Monkee plug-in isn't compatible, for what it's worth.
  • Hehehe...when I first read this, I thought you were talking about Click Monkeys.

    Click Monkeys!!

These guys are GREAT! They have a huge tanker just off the coast of the US and they have a TON of people just click-click-clicking away on my AdSense sites...making me a ton of money.

    Thank God for click monkeys!

    • And how long do you think you are going to get away with that. Google isn't stupid, and they tend to catch on to this kind of fraud fairly quickly. Don't you think that a lot of clicks and no sales isn't going to raise red flags. Not a wise thing to do in my opinion. Besides that, it is stealing.

    • Hilarious - I gotta get these guys working for me!
    • Just having a look at clickmonkeys.com. Am i being blind but I cannot see any way to order or sign up in the site. Any ideas?

    • That's stealing.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • its socialmonkee.com and its a good website i have been using it for a while and for free its great, has saved me many $5 spends on fiverrr for a similar or unfinished job, considering its free it gets 2 firm thumbs up

  • Anyone satisfied with SocialMonkee service? For premium account, Is it really get 100 social bookmarks from different social bookmarking sites via Social Monkee? Please share your experience.
  • I use the free service. You can't use the plugin with firefox but if you go to the website it doesn't take 5 minutes, once a day. It seems to be working for me.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I got the free account by simply posting my referral link in this forum a few times in answer to posts requesting marketing ideas. I would create a tinyurl link that went to my referral url. I got 1 or 2 new members with each post. After 10 members, I got the ugpraded account and I'm still getting members from that. I'm up to like 23 referrals now!

And yes.. it's 100 free bookmarks.. and the report is included. They always check out. I don't know if there's much value in them as all the sites are created by socialmonkee it seems, but hey.. can't hurt.

It does what it promises though. I do very little backlinking but have a couple sites I hit with this.
  • Social monkey is a great little online application. If you have a website and want automated backlinks, social monkey is the way to go.
  • Don't multiple links from the same website count only once? So therefore, you're really only getting 25 links from socialmonkee, right?
    • [1] reply
    • If you are looking for a free option and don't mind doing the work, then Social Monkee is a good little application. If you are looking for something more sophisticated then Andy Fletchers WP Syndicator is a great paid plugin. It's not a social bookmarking, but rather your post gets syndicated to other web 2.0 properties and social sites, giving you a link to your website with a specific anchor text.

  • I joined the free option about two weeks ago. So far so good!

It does take about 5 minutes a day to generate the entry for submission but I figure it would have taken me far longer to manually submit to 25 different sites to get valuable backlinks so I do it with a smile!

I have just not gotten around to promoting my affiliate link yet to qualify for a free upgrade but this is a great incentive for everyone to create 100 backlinks to your site daily as opposed to the 25 which come standard with the free membership.
  • The guys who are having success with Social Monkee, how long did it take for you to start seeing the backlinks get indexed after you pinged the RSS feed?
  • Here's a question, has anyone done a test to determine if these social bookmarking links have any effect at all on ranking? I noticed about three or four months ago that social bookmarking, what used to be my main back linking method did not work anymore, or had very little effect.
    • [2] replies
    • i do not know how much Google would give importance these websites like social monkey, click money and so on.
    • I would like to know this as well. It seems like socialmonkees links have very little to know value at all. Although it is free and only takes a few minutes to do a submission, is it even worth the trouble? Seems like it might not be...
      • [1] reply
  • I dont think Google is stupid. This would not give a good SEO advantage eventually. But im gonna try it anyhow.
  • Yes i use this site and yes it helps.
  • I got a premium acct and I submit to it 3 times a day with 3 different url's. I can spread them out between 1 and 14 days so each of them get gradual and consistant links at different intervals. Bkmk is not waht it use to be but this will certainly add to diversification of your links. The way I see it is it will be 10000 links I didn't have.
    • [1] reply
    • What is your success rate on getting the links indexed out of 100 links?

Also, do you just ping the RSS feed report or do you also create a Feed burner feed out of the RSS feed like it advises in the tutorial video?

      Cheers,
  • [DELETED]
  • I use too, really easy, but dont see yet the backlink. But just only 5 days i do it.
  • Wise people should not use it to directly point it to their money sites. There is little to know value of this backlinks. I prefer it to use it for tier 2-3 of my link pyramid structure. They also have an article site backlinkkingdom which is once again an automated article submission to some of their network site. However, I have always been skeptic to use such linking method to directly point it to my money site.

I would like to know the experience of other people as well.

    • I would second that. Social bookmarking links are not of a huge value for SERPS. Maybe you might see some improvement in a weak competition, but not if you go after anything serious. Social bookmarks can possibly be great for indexing.
    • you are correct mate. social bookmarks can give a huge SERPs. but must use it in a proper way.
  • I must say that this software is little bit effective but i will fully try it and then shared my thought with all
  • Hey All,

I started using Social Monkee on a weekly basis (1-2 times a week) for the past two months. This was the ONLY thing I did for one of my sites (a dot us domain) and it ended up jumping from #8 spot to #3 within a month or so. I would def recommend trying them out. It's free...so what it can it hurt Enjoy!
    • [1] reply
    • Is it a competitive keyword? What is the search volume and difficulty level? Did you bookmark your main domain or used some other link building method like link pyramid/wheel to bookmark the site?

Do you follow any other link building strategy? Socialmonkee alone should not be of much help as there is little to know PR on all sites.

  • It's a good service. The free version is good, but I'd recommend the premium one. You get 100 social submissions per link and you can submit 3 times per day (so 300 backlinks per day or 9,000 per month, all for a one-off fee). You also get access to the RSS feeds for each submission, so you can then ping and submit the feeds to further build their strength.

    I'd recommend it

Have you seen any improvement to your rankings? I've been a premium member a few weeks. I've seen a few of the backlinks get indexed, but it hasn't made any improvement to my rankings as yet.

  • The links from Social Monkee are many pligg website. It will help your page index and have some back links. But you can not use this tool only to challenger with other sites.
  • Basically, Social Monkey lets you find where your friends are and what is going on around your neighborhood
  • I have never come across with such auto generated back link software or application. Those who are involved in using such software, let me know whether it is working. whether Google considers those links as a back link or in time you have faced some serious issues from Google.
    • [1] reply
    • Hi,

I have used social monkee for about a month, the free version. After submitting your bookmarks, a report will be sent containing the urls of the bookmarks. If you checked your bookmarks one day after submitting, they are there. However, several weeks down the road, you will notice that the bookmarks are gone such as "oops can't find pages etc". There are a fair number of these broken pages.
      • [2] replies
  • Seems to be up and running at my end. Personally I think Social Monkee is the easiest of all Bookmarking tools out there.

They now have an Elite membership level for a one-off fee that supports 150 bookmarking sites. I can select 3-30 days to drip feed the links to any website I choose, fill in the fields and add in a few spin syntaxes and its done. Once the cycle is complete I get a full report of all 150 links. With certain other software I noticed that you don't quite get the actual number of bookmarks they claim to provide. But that hasn't been my experience with Social Monkee. You really do get what you paid for. I had some complaints about the Premium membership level since I wasn't able to bookmark a url once it's been bookmarked once. but now you can after waiting a certain number of days. This is even better in a way because I don't come across as spammer when the backlinking is done "sensibly". And it's a true set and forget website based app which makes it even better. The only drawback in my opinion is that they still only allow us to submit up to 3 urls per day. Hopefully a future update will change that.

I am not affiliate with the product in any way Just wanted to give credit to where its owed.
  • what do all of you use bookmarking for? your money site of just the links you create?
  • I signed up for the premium and made one submission which has been sitting for 3 days now..no bookmarks created yet..what the hell is up with social monkee ??
    • [1] reply
    • Did you select it to drip feed over 2 days when you made the submission?

At first I was confused where the reports are, then I saw that the link which contains the RSS feed of each report is right at the bottom of the page.
      • [3] replies
  • I started out with the free service. Then I upgraded to premium, followed by elite membership not long after. I scheduled 6 days of bookmarking (18 different urls). Reports are showing urls from sites I do not own and the number of links submitted were only 50 (not the 150 that I know I scheduled). After contacting support they removed the Urls from sites I did not own. Today I re-checked the reports and all of the bookmarks have disappeared. Still awaiting to hear from SocialMonkee support. Has anyone else had problems? Are their sites/network down?

Is anyone else getting this error?
  • It's always a good idea to find out where these type of sites are placing backlinks to your site, last thing you want is a Google slap for doing something Blackhat
  • I started a new schedule on 10/12. As of today it still hasn't started the submissions. Obviously the service is down. No response from customer service either. Customer service was spot on, with a fast reply, with my initial problems. I still have a few days before my 60 days are up. Hopefully it is resolved soon. Otherwise, I'll be asking for a refund. Only found out about the service through Shane (he recommended in his backlink battleplan) at imimpact.com He's the only guru I trust these days.

  • I haven't noticed any problems with submissions recently. But I'm certainly concerned about the recent problems / comments on this thread and lack of follow-up by the owners.
  • i tried this they created back links only 25 with socialnetwork sites not every day

    • It's been over a week without a response from socialmonkee. Scheduled a 2 day submission on 10/12 and it has yet to complete. Will be asking for a refund tomorrow.
    • That is what's supposed to happen.

If you want links to be created everyday, you need to submit them manually everyday. Submitting one URL only submits it to 25 sites once.

  • I've been a member since its early days and an elite member now, but I'm disappointed in the lack of results.

I have URL's in the que since the 10th of the month and nothing has passed through since. Support last week said there was a minor hiccup and things should be back to normal. Seems to be a big hiccup because several days later they are still sitting there.

Now I can't even get the site to come up. Server error. So for my 2 paid upgrades to elite I am not too happy at the moment.

    • yes, contacted them but my problem just same as zParker, considering for the refund now.

Maybe the report only available once any url is fully submitted? Will check again after 3 day of my 3xdays drip feed set this morning.
  • The service is completely disappointing now. No reply from support and it's been a week. Posts stacked up in the que from more than 2 weeks ago!

Login in and all you constantly see is links pimping other affiliate products. Nothing completely wrong with that, but how about spending some of that time fixing your own service that some, including myself, have spent $100 on?

I've never submit but my friend told me that it's completely useless.
  • I've used the free SocialMonkee service to help with indexing but it's just a bunch of PR0 and PR1 pligg sites with a couple of PR2's thrown in.
  • Still no support replies and the que only continues to grow. After some extensive testing over the past few weeks I'm finding this useless for any SERP gains. In fact on some sites it has went the opposite way.

    • Are u considered 4 refund? Late night over here now, tomorrow will give the last change and ask for refund if still not working. Elite member of 150 sites on social bookmarking should be able to gain with alternative way.

Maybe somebody can share what is the best way for social bookmarking.
    • There's a message that says they are currently doing maintainence for 5 days, so the service may improve soon.

Maybe that is the reason why support aren't replying.

Do you spin your description text plenty of times and also ping the RSS feed reports? I think this service is only as a compliment to other types of backlinking and isn't for ranking competitive keywords.

    • I've been using Social Monkee for several months. I quickly referred people to the site using my affiliate link, so now I have free access to the premium service. I think since it is free it is worth using occasionally, but the bookmarking sites mostly have a PR of 0, so I don't feel it has made much if any difference to my Google ranking.
The site will become more useful when the bookmarking sites start becoming more popular and their PR increases.
  • Now after all Social monkee service providers have disabled the long description section :S --- Currently we are able to submit description with just 400 characters that are very low - They said they will increase it to 800 to 1000 words limit, may it will
  • I have NOT had good luck with Social Monkee. I have tried for several days and I have not been able to register or get any answer from the several support tickets that I submitted. On another thread I read of similar problems. I am done with Social Monkee. Useless to me if I can't use it.
  • not only heard used but no backlink added.nothing happened.
  • OK, I need to say this because it's SO important. If you look at your site, analyze your niche and put your thinking cap on, you can manually create backlinks that will get your site on Google's first page fairly easily. Looking for the shortcut only hampers your efforts in the long run. I only mean this if you are not trying to rank for keywords like "money" and "mortgage".

    • So in other words, are you telling people they shouldn't use SM?
  • Social Monkee has been very unreliable lately, it's always down. I'm very disappointed i spent $47 on the premium membership.Anyone else having the same problems?
  • I was having some bad issues with Social Monkee at first but they are all cleared up. I could not even login or submit a support ticket. Finally I was able to get word to Colin (site owner) via youtube. Colin was very helpful and he promptly got me set up and I have been using it for a week or so. I able looking forward to seeing how it helps me.
  • Beyond building the links, are the links valuable? Anybody improving in PR or rankings because of it? What's the use? Just to build your backlink profile with something different?

  • Been using it for over 3 months now, many of the links do stick if you do the whole RSS ping/submit often. For the 'important' pages that I run SM to, I backlink (with SM) the social bookmark links generated as well, then do the same RSS/submit thing again and they do stick. Whether or not they have value is not as relevant I guess since they're low volume (150, I guess about 20% sticks).

For the price, it's cheaper than paying for fiverr gigs constantly, but it is a chore.
  • I use SM and have been for a while now.

My only complaint has to be about the submitting feature, sometimes when you submit for the 25 backlinks it will submit the articles with the spin syntax (so the article isn't actually spun) happened to me twice now, could be detrimental to your blog.

Only use it on my web2.0 profiles / properties these days.

    • Hello everyone

When the site is under maintenance it's generally because we're moving sites to more powerful, dedicated servers (fresh IPs, more uptime...). That's why it sometimes takes a few days, and we sometimes extend the maintenance mode by a few hours because there is a queue of submissions to be processed. However this is 'just' a matter of time, as all submissions are eventually processed.

We increased it to 1,200, which should be enough for most people. There is a character limit because looong descriptions tend to go wrong, and in that case it's quite difficult for the sites to 'handle' the bookmarks.

Also we recommend that you spin words instead of full descriptions. This way you can have highly spun descriptions, and be within the 1,200 characters limit. Imagine a 6,000 characters long description, like mentioned above, going wrong... The system won't really like it.

Did someone get back to you? I personally respond to all unanswered tickets (generally within 24 hours) so if you did not receive a reply from us, it's probably because the ticket got lost in the system, or because you received the response in your spam box. Feel free to resubmit a ticket, or PM me.

The help desk is open from Monday to Saturday.

      Hi Jeff,

We're sorry you feel this way! The submission form was taken down for a few days, but everything is back on track now. Also remember that all memberships are lifetime memberships.

That generally happens when a user forgets an opening or closing bracket. Make sure you also click the Preview button before clicking the Submit button. If the Preview feature itself doesn't work, then please re-check your title and description.

Also you should avoid special characters like &, @, etc.

We will soon add more verification systems and filters so it becomes almost impossible for your bookmarks to go wrong, along many other new features and improvements... Stay tuned!
  • Hmm that sounds cool. Does it actually work, though?
    • [1] reply
    • Yes it does, I use it on money sites and also to my backlinks... I have lots of number 1 rankings... it is important to note that it should make up a part of your SEO strategy. on long tail keywords, it alone could potentially be enough for a nice boost, but it is a really good indexing tool too
  • I just found out about social money a few days ago and I use the free service. You have to put in a different url every time you post if you use a free account. That would be my only con. If you put in the same url, if will not post. It is a great service, though.

    • haha, yeah its a funny name, but the thread title is misspelled, it is not monkey (i guess the correct spelling) it is: SocialMonkee.com

It works and lots of members use it and love it
  • Social Monkee is a social bookmarking platform and is quite good for posting social bookmarks. As far as I know, they use their own sites to submit your links to, so they are different than most other social bookmarking sites.

There is a free and paid version. If you do not have a lot of money, the free version is fine, but the paid is certainly a good purchase if you want to take it seriously.
  • I am using socialmonkee since long time for social bookmarking and useful.
  • I use social monkee and it works pretty well. I only use the free service so I cannot speak on the the premium service. It makes you put in some spun text, titles and keywords and then it pings the sites. They also give you a txt file so you can check the links. All in all its a good free service but is best used on niche sites in my opinion.
  • Alright, I'll do my best to put all of this to rest. I have a top level membership at Social Monkee. First I joined for free and could submit one site to 25 of their social bookmark sites each day. I thought it was very useful, so I upgraded to the Premium membership level (through referrals, get 12 referrals and you don't have to pay the $47).

With the Premium level, you can submit three different URLs to 100 sites per day and you can stretch them to drip out over 7 days. When you upgrade, THAT is when you can actually see the RSS feed reports. It says all over that you can only see the reports when you have an upgraded account.

I saw how much this was automating my backlinking, so I upgraded once more to their Eilite Membership for a one-time $57 fee. Yes, I know that they are relatively low quality links in the grand scheme of things, but they are created on autopilot! They are definitely worth something and any part of my business that I can automate is great.

With the Elite Membership you can submit three different URLs to up to 150 sites each day. You can choose to submit to 25, 50, 75, 100 or 125 sites if you would rather. On top of that, you can schedule up to 45 submissions in advance. Plus, you can re-submit the same URL once every 6 weeks. With all other membership levels, you can only submit a URL once for life. Elite members can also stretch their link drip out to one month, so you can just drip a few links each day.

As far as the impact on my sites?? It's tough to say because I spend a great part of everyday working on my SEO. But, I can tell you that it is a tool that I use almost everyday and my sites are doing very well.

However, anyone that is saying that Socialmonkee links had a negative effect on their site is simply misinformed. I have used these links on nearly brand new sites without penalty.

I love Social Monkee! It's quickly becoming my favorite SEO tool. No, not necessarily because of it's effectiveness, but mostly because of it's ease of use. It seriously puts my link-building on auto-pilot and I was happy to pay the upgrade fee.

Generally when I receive a spam email (or what is thought to be spam) my ISP automatically lists it with ***SPAM*** in the title, but I still receive it.
I submitted a support ticket yesterday but if you responded to it by email I didn't receive it.
  • Steve,

spinning is a vital part of getting backlinks. The titles are things you make up, it is not meant to be the same as the ones on the blog post you want to promote... You are meant to make up your own titles and then spin them
  • @Colin.

As the reports have been lost for some submissions, does this mean that its advisable to delete those reports then resubmit the URL? Would this work properly.

Because when clicking on the RSS feed link nothing appears so there is no way to ping the RSS feed.

    Cheers,

    • All new reports should be fine - the ones that were lost, if you had already pinged them then it will be fine, all links are still on the sites and pointing back... but you can resubmit all those links again if you choose, the system will let you do so. Sorry for that situation we are learning all the time, and still shocked out data was just not there.

  • Does anyone know how they publish the book marks? I have been using social ADR and what does make them good is that as a paid member, all the free members are natually posting your bookmarks to earn their free credits. This means it is 100% natural as it really is people across the globe submitting them from their own accounts.

Downside with Social ADR is they are expensive. The $47 a month package still only lets you do 700 bookmarks per url. To get more, they charge further fee's on top of an already high ish montly fee.

Was thinking of trying social monkee but am a bit concerned that it seems they do the bookmarks themselves, presumably via a few servers and different IP's but Google is not stupid and works this out and this may look far more suspicious to google than social ADR's more natural approach of users making the posts.

Especially when your domains are new....

    Cheers

    Anyone have any views?

    • It says on Social Monkee's site that all the links are on unique C class IPs and domains. Social bookmarking is a white hat link building strategy so I don't think Google has a problem with it plus the spinning of the titles and descriptions makes each bookmark more unique to increase the index rate.
  • I have been trying to log in for the past two days and can't find their page.

    Is Social Monkee gone?

  • Ive used them before. I didn't think it was worth the time and effort. IMO,the backlinks weren't worth the spent... that said, if you have the extra time and want to do, certainly nothing wrong with it.
  • Not a lot of people are talking about these guys, but I've checked them out and I'm considering trying them out.
  • Just wonder why I cannot sign up for the free edition of SocalMonkee here from Thailand where I live and work??
    Anyone know why?

  • As I understand it, Colin Klinkert owns and operates SocialMonkee and BacklinkKingdom. BacklinkKingdom recently had all of it's sites deindexed.

    • based on what facts ? or is it hear say

    • BacklinkKingdom is basically article submission site, and i have used for just two or three articles, after some research i found these article sites are useless as they don't hold any page rank and kind of spam.

i am not sure whether they are deindexed but from my side it wasting time better go for manual with high PR Article sites
