I think getting in to only one directory will not increase your ranking at once. It takes time and you should also use other SEO techniques to get the results. Rank improvement will be shown when google will revise the PRs.

I refuse to pay to be included in a directory.

Sure it would be nice, but there are other listings to be had!

didnt give me a boost in google rankings at all but there are less than a handful of spots I can actually move up in rankings for my site

I did notice my site jump from page 4 to halfway up page one of yahoos search results for what it's worth. I still think it is a good link to have if you have a site that is your baby and bringing in enough money that yahoo's review fee wont hurt your pockets.

google "site:www.warriorforum.com yahoo directory" for other threads always before starting your own

Thanks! I will do that from now on. And thanks to the advice of you guys I have decided not to shell out that money. It would indeed hurt my pockets XD

I think no need to put website in yahoo directory as yahoo does not have its own search engine and results would not improve or ranking will not improve.

I haven't used paid Yahoo Directory but some people say that it is good in terms if increasing pr of sites.
