About links in footer

1. I have been reading in SEO Posts that google is now not counting footer links much as compared to content links. Is it better to remove footer links and simply put a link to product directory as high up as possible in the content?

2. How many internal links need to go to a category page from subcategory and product pages to give that page a boost?

Thanks, Diane

Diane, there is no short answer for that. Some sites do pretty well with footer links, while others don't. Some questions arise about it: how many links in that page? What are they pointed to? Nofollowed or followed? And so on...

In SEO there is NOT a proven way to do things, it's more a test and see ongoing work, really.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

All things being equal, best links are high up, contextual, on relevant pages.

Not much of an issue for internal linking. Just watch your anchor text and
      alt if an image.

        Hello,

As you can notice that your Footer links may be devalued by search engines automatically and Footer links are often not the first link on the page to a URL.

        Thanks!!
