Pinging Links - My Experiment

One site I have been working on for months is doing reasonably well but I have been looking at the efforts compared to the amount of indexed links built. There are a number of link wheels, some forum links, many articles and blog posts. The total number of links are over 53,000. The number of indexed links is 1850. That's about 3.5%, so not remotely great.

I have read many of you here that are on one side or another of pinging links. Myself, I think that Linkalicious, Backlink Energizer and Kok Choon's Nuclear Ping Scheduler are good ways to drip ping. I can see the point that mass pinging might not be the best option, as the link velocity will show single big spikes.

So here's what I am testing out. I am pinging the links and about once a week, I'll check and see how the rankings are doing and how many links are indexed.

It will probably take about 53 days as I think I only have about 1000 links being pinged a day. I have to double check this, but I believe I am correct.

The main keyword was at 24 but danced up to 91 today, it'll be back down in 3-5 days.

The secondary keywords are at 14, 16, 53 and 55.

Let's see what happens.
