You can increase you SERP CTR by adding a video and cover image to your article. You can use videos from any source, it does not have to be YouTube and you don't need an image in the video player. Here is how it's done:

- Optimize your article
- Add a front page cover image (make sure it's before your read more page-break)

- Embed the video into your article and you get this:

This has worked well for me. Many of my articles are ranked high on Google with images attached to the SERP. I also use my own video player. Of course to rank higher on Goolge you will still need to build back-links. I am using this concept for my new video based article directory for those that want to try it out. Thought I would share.

Great share, thanks! That really stands out against all the text listings. I'll have to give this a shot in my local area.

This is one of the reasons why I don't use YouTube. Most content on YouTube is not optimized and you cannot include keywords in your urls. Besides, its not great for local marketing. My videos actually get more hits than their YouTube counterparts. There are pros and cons though. If local marketing is your thing then this works great especially with low competition and long tail keywords. You will still need to build backlinks to rank higher.

OP, I see your video on page #2 in Google SERPs, which is still good considering your getting the thumbnail image to show in the SERPs.

A little trick that I've only seen once on a real estate site, you can pull off the exact same thumbnail image in the SERPs without video. They used a slideshow of jpeg images, instead of video.

I'll see If I can find the site, been a while since I first found the site.

I just created my new article directory to build backlinks to my content so this format will help increase my rankings. Just haven't gotten time to create much backlinks for my videos.

Here is another one I shot a few weeks ago on the first page of Google. There was no keyword research involved. I just used the name of the event. Got a little lazy.

That's still all good, & like I was saying in my last comment. Even If your thumbnail image is on page #2 in the SERPs, chances are very high that your thumbnail image will have a higher CTR than the other 9 search results without a thumbnail image.

        Good job!

That may be because it's reading the images associated with flash in the content just like the videos and thanks for the compliment.
