Hey,

I have a question, and it's not only regarding ezinearticles.com, but article directory in general.

ezinearticles.com got a PR6, and thats nice! But when I'm making an article and post it on there, then that article will be PR0 - and that means that I will get a link from af PR0 subdomain..

So can you guys explain to me, why it's better for me to post an article on ezinearticles.com than some other article directory - with a lower PR.

Because the backlink that I get - is a one-way-link I know that, but I could get that with less effort.

So I would like to know in details why this is better.

Thank you

Up until the Panda update, EZA provided two main benefits:

    - It got loads of traffic (and, thus, more of a chance for your content to be seen, clicked on, and syndicated)

    - Google tended to favor it more than the lesser directories (and, thus, you had a higher shot at ranking higher, even with your PR 0 article page)

Since Panda, however, EZA's traffic has gone down because their pages aren't showing up as high in the search results. They're not the only one with this problem, but it seems as if they took the biggest hit. EZA seems to be trying to work out the kinks, in an effort to get back in Google's good graces. Only time will tell if they can get back to where they were.

When used correctly, EZA can be a great tool in your arsenal. However, that doesn't mean you should put all of your eggs in the EZA basket. There are plenty of other great article directories out there that can get you the exposure and the syndication that you need (even if their PR is not as high as EZA's)

Take Panda as a lesson not to rely solely on *any* site for all of your traffic/promotion/results.

Hi NicoleBeckett - thank you for you'r answer.

It's not exactly what I looked for.

SEO-wise - why is ezinearticles.com better? I don't mean the direct traffic - but the benefit SEO-wise. Would I be better of with a PR0 backlink from ezinearticles.com - than a PR0 backlinks from one of my newest pages?

I don't mean ezinearticles in generel, but all article directories with high PR.

Yes, you would be better of. The reason is: it's not a PR0 (in fact, PR0 doesn't even exist!). What you need to realize is three things:

      1. Every page, once indexed by Google is assigned a PR value that is >0. This is why one of the best link building approaches is to keep adding new pages to your own site because that's where you have the biggest control of things.

      2. There is a difference between the publicly visible Google Toolbar PR that Google shows you and the ACTUAL PR that Google uses in their ranking algorithm. The publicly visible PR is outdated by as much as several months and you never know the actual PR that Google uses. As a result, you cannot really know a page's strength and the only indicators you can use are: cache date (the fresher, the better), links to that page and links to the home page (SEOmoz has an approximation of this in their mozrank and opensiteexplorer.org is a good tool to check these values).

      3. The scale of the publicly visible PR is logarithmic, so the difference between a low PR0 and high PR0 could easily be several orders of magnitude. Thus, you cannot assume they are the same.

      ---

All that said, submitting to article directories is much less effective than it once was. The biggest value article directories used to provide was (1) traffic and (2) quality sites republishing your content. Panda killed the former, the latter hasn't been effective for at least a couple of years. The links from article directories themselves were never that great.

To conclude, my recommendation is: if you can submit fast and cheap do so for the top article directories and forget the rest. If you cannot do it fast and cheap, forget article directories altogether and focus on more effective methods.

    There are many advantages:-

1- The links are do-follow links.
2- The pages can get PR soon as the site is already popular and a page rank of 6.
3- The pages gets cached within 24 hours even though you do not do any bookmarking for your article pages.
4- EZA is a trusted site in the eyes of Google and links from trusted site are always valued more than untrusted and lesser popular ones.

Guest post links are effective when they are contextual and natural!!
