The waiting game paid off...

So finally my site which I thought had been penalised, sandboxed, dancing, whatever jumps straight to #4 in Google UK! #24 Google.com.

It had been in #6, five days after I launched it, but within a couple of weeks it completely disappeared, for nearly 9 weeks!

I never thought I would see it happen, but kept working at the site, adding new relevant content, building a few backlinks (not that many though, it is a pretty uncompetitive niche) and suddenly today there it is! It is an american search term, so I just need that final little push to get it to page one in the US and maintain and I'll be as happy as anything.

Yesterday the site wasn't even in the top 1000!

Just goes to show Google does do some funny things and if you work at your site you will get there eventually.

I'm pretty new to all this and have found it a very steep learning curve, but this has given me a massive boost! Time to monetize! That's the next hurdle. But am super excited about this.

Just thought that I would share and tell any newbies not to give up, it will happen soon!

Thanks to everyone on here for all the help and advice. It is truly amazing!

    Inspiring post.

There are many factors that go into your Google ranking, but you seem to have figured out the main one.....hard work and determination.

SEO is something that must be maintained, and never taken for granted. You worked hard and it paid off.

    Congrats!

Patience is the key to success!
its not only about Google and the online world, the same phenomena also applies to offline world and to almost all business models out there. keep working in the right direction and you will be paid for that sometimes sooner other times later but, in the end you will get paid off.

Nice inspiring thread and Cheers for future earnings.

  • Congratulations on your results! With new sites, there is always that dreaded Google dance, but as long as you keep working at your site & building backlinks you'll come back even stronger.

It's so true and I never really believed it until now! I suppose you never do until you experience something for yourself.

    Well done.

I bet you were sweating it out through those 9 weeks. Most people would have given up at that point. You're one of the few that didn't, and it paid off.

Google penalties are more often than not temporary and designed to discourage the manipulation of search results. In the end, though, they don't own the content, you do.

So, if it unique and relevant, and not syndicated, eventually your site will come back.
