Should I rent high PR links? Do high PR links work for rankings?

Just wondering what everyone's ranking experiences are with having some backlinks from high PR pages...not just from pages on high PR domains, but from pages that have actual pagerank. I just started renting several PR4 links from a trusted source for several of my websites, so I am waiting to see what happens with my sites (which are all about 2 months old, micro niche sites) and their rankings. (Sidenote: I'm using these links in hopes of rising in the SERPs, and not necessarily to give any of my websites pagerank). So, anyone have any success in the SERPs by using high PR links?

High PR backlinks do work, and they work very well. However, you should first make sure that those backlinks are Dofollow.

Yes high pr links will increase your websites better than custom made links using web2.0 properties. It is also possible to acquire these links through posting on blogposts that have high PR on them, especially ones without too many comments.

Also by using programs to backlink the blogpost, you are significantly increasing the quality of the link and you are getting a great free high pr backlink.

The only problem with this backlink are the slim chances of being penalized by google however no harm will come to your main site at all. The other issue is that if others find this blog posts and wanted to add more comments with anchor, your linkjuice is split significantly for every additional anchor.

If you can within 3 hours do 3-5 quality high PR blog comments that stick, and use software to backlink those urls, then it is better than buying an ad spot, however it is very likely your comments might not get approved instantly or at all. So the most logical way is to buy ad spots on sites with high pr.

High pagerank pages/sites work, of course

But there are a lot of other factors in play too, like age of the domain, how long your link has been up (link age), how many inbound links the website you're renting from has, what's the co-citation of those links, etc...

Will it work? Maybe. Either way, having more inbound links will always help your rankings.
