Do Some Of The Keywords Profits Drop Off Over Time?

Hi,

someone on another forum reported this, where they had a page with $4.95 profit per click, which made them a great profit, but it dropped off over a few months.

So...can we expect some of our kw's CPC to drop off occasionally?

And if it does, what are the typical percentage of kw's that do this?

Shane

Yes I have seen this, usually when I put adsense on new sites I do great and for some reason google likes to pay me less as time goes on. For example one site was making $80 per day and now makes $10 - $20 with about the same amount of clicks.

        Hi Jeremy,

so l take it that no changes were made to the pages in question?

I have also heard that the more adsense ad's the less of a profit you will get, was that factor involved?

And how long did it take to go from $80 a day to $10+?

Sorry about the number of questions, but l am starting a 100KBP on my site and don't want to spend months, pushing 3 kw's that l found, (my site has about 50 pages) and find out that 2 or 3 of them drop off?

No changes made to the site, google just decides not to pay as much. However sometimes they decide to pay more!

Yes i have heard and tested the theory about more ads on the page = less payout per click. I think this is true so I try to have two adsense units in the most likely spots to get a click. The theory is that google will display the highest paying ads in the first unit, and then lower paying ads in the second and third so by having more units the user may click on a 5 cent ad whereas if you never had the other units they might have clicked on a $1 ad

In the case of the site making $80 a day it was brining in $60-$80 for about a week then over the course of the next week dropped down to about $10-$20 a day.

also the CPC that google reports in their tool is BS! I built an entire site around keywords that apparently pay $5-$20 per click but most clicks fetch about $1 or less. Then I built another site and the tool said 8 cents per click and the ads pay about 30 cents to $1

If you are building a site build one that will display ads people WANT to click on. Use your imagination

            Hi, Jeremy,

sounds like they look over your entire site, (manual review) and adjust adsense CPC accordingly?

Another reason l am initially staying with a 3.5 year old site with plenty of content, etc, to acid test 100KBP.

As for ad placement, l will just have to go with what they recommend and see what happens.

The CPC, going up and down is a concern, but l will just have to go with the $2 and $3 dollar kw's that l have found and hope that it doesn't very to much.

            Thank's for your help.

Just out of curiosity, is the $10-$20 a day site still at that level of has it changed since then?
