I personally use up to 10 keywords in the Meta tag.

In my meta description, I tend to want to repeat my keyword twice within the description.

It's a good idea to have your keyword as your domain name.

As for keyword usage in your content, my rule of thumb is to have my keyword listed at least 3% and not greater than 5% within the article. Try to avoid "keyword stuffing" as this can get you slapped by Google, or it can tend to be obvious to your visitors that you're more interested in making Google happy rather than give the visitor what they want, i.e. valid and unique content.

Keeping in mind that it's also a good idea to use at least one H1 tag in your article and use your keyword in this tag.

Lastly, what works well for me is to do the following:

--Bold your keyword once in your text

    --Italicize your keyword once

--Make sure your grammar is correct and spelling is checked for errors

These are just a few basics, but it's surprising to know that a lot of people don't know this.

    Cheers,
    Peter

try to put in only main targeted keywords in your meta or description tags. Too much of a keywords might get confused the Big G ( which is not a good signal at all )

0 to 5 keywords can be contained in keywords tags, and you can put your keywords in title, keywords tags, description tags and the content of your site. pay attention to various keywords.

Google does not use the meta keyword tool anymore, most search engines ignore it completely.

The meta description should NOT be stuffed with keywords, this is your chance to lure people in to click on your link. Make it engaging and try to fit one or two keywords in there.

Most do ignore it, but some dont, the other reason that I keep them in there is so that I can always track easily what I have been working for. I have also in the past used it to throw off people if any one looked there to see what I was trying to rank for. That way if they checked my site it wouldnt be just handed to them.

I would try to theme your article using variations of your keyword, for example, singular, plural, past tense, etc.
Something that helps me is to take a look at the competitors web sites and try to match my keyword density to them.
Yes, it's still a best practice to use the meta keyword tag, but certainly don't stuff it full or repeat phrases.

First of all keywords are not important in these days, and if you want to use meta tags in your pages then go for maximum 4-5 keywords.

You can use 8-10 keyword in a single page. But keep in mind that relevancy is more important.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3948775].message }}
  • You can choose 5 to 6 meta keywords from content of your website, choose those keywords by checking the competitions and searches. the meta description can be fron 140 to a60 characters but it should be clearly define about your website short and sweet.

It is advisable to target only few keywords(2 or 3) & make sure that you do not use the keywords more time, Make it as 2% on total content. That will help you to maintain a good content which will be loved a lot by Google.

For articles you need to stick by the rules and never go above 1.5 percent keyword density. In reality this relates to using your main keyword 1.5 times for every 100 words you write.
