Outranked by another Google Sniper!

Hi all,

Ok here is my story...

I set-up a "sniper" site to promote Cash Renegade following George Brown's teachings, to the book and after a day or so I was ranked 2 or 3 on the first page of Google for the keyword "cash renegade" and "cash renegade review"...

BUT in the last 2 weeks another "sniper" has stolen my thunder big time and has managed to get his site #1,2 & 3 at the top of Google, displacing me well down the ranking on PAGE 2!!

...and to make things worst he has also stolen much of my own content.

What is he doing that I am not. His site is getcashrenegade2.com

Any advice would be much appreciated as I have spent hours and hours studying the right techniques, but I'm obviously missing a trick.

Mike

I see your site at position #45 in google SERPs for the keyword Cash Renegade Review.

Are you sure your not getting personalized search results?

I checked Google USA, I see your in the UK, I'll check that...

Yes that sounds about right as I'm slipping all the time.

My point is though how has another very similar "sniper" site been able to gain the 1,2 & 3 positions in Google with a virtually identical wordpress blog?

Can he be doing lots of off-page SEO/backlinking?

On a slightly seperate note, I also have my YouTube video in position #5 on Google for the search term "cash renegade review".

How can I get this to the top? Is it about what is said in the video or only the tags and description?

    Mike

P.S. I really appreciate your time to answer these questions.

    Mike,
Your competitor most definitely has more backlinks pointing to his site that are: from high PR domains (the root of the domain), dofollow, and using those 2 keywords as anchor text. But, there is something that you CAN do.

First, download: SEO for firefox. It's a free plugin that will let you know the PR of any domain & check whether or not a link is dofollow. Then, go to: Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch, type in your competitor's URL, and you will see where he is getting all of his backlinks from It's always nice to spy on our competitor's sites! Now, go to the sites where he has placed his backlinks, and if it is possible to leave yours too, then go right ahead! Make sure to use the exact keyword you want to rank for as the anchor text. This is called "Reverse Engineering Your Competition" & it works wonders! If you need even more Powerful Backlinks fast, you can check out the link in my siganture.

I'm actually promoting the same product, on Page #1 right now for the keyword and keyword+bonus. Competition is getting super stiff, I should actually be ranking #1 with all the strategies I've done but my site hasn't been cached since May 20th, so I'm kind of sitting, waiting and wishing that it will happen before pre-launch and definitely before launch week!

best of luck to you brotha!

I've got you at #20 in Google (USA). I see your competitor on page 2 as well at #16, so it looks like his site took a dip as well.

I would continue to work on backlinks and try to vary it up a little. Keep on trucking up until the launch. Consider adding more content and getting that indexed as well.

I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, but I would double check your on-page SEO and make sure that it's optimized to the best it can be.

to improve google ranking please follow the following steps:
    1) do social bookmarking with using your keyword as title for example: "SEO services" don't use anything else in your title
2)do directory submission with same technique
    3) write press release and article and place your anchor text.

There are 10 spots on page one. His taking spots 1-3 wouldn't push you to page 2.

Sometimes sniper sites bounce around, and sometimes they move up as they get older. I built one that first got indexed at #11, then moved up to #10, and then #4, without me doing any extra SEO. Then I did some on-page SEO and it moved up to #3. Right now it outranks the sales page for the product it promotes, which is at #4 for the search term I'm targeting.

    Hi Mike,

I'm that other Sniper you are talking about from getcashrenegade.com - I have been away so I have only just picked up that someone is talking about me!

To start with I have not stolen anything from you at all! My Sniper sites are based upon George Brown's content as you know. If it worked for George why change the content and format of the site. So it's not very sporty of you to say I was steeling of you... I could say you were steeling of me... but why not say the truth and say that both of these sites are based upon George's site!

I see that you have been working through all of my backlinks trying to catch me up, you even tried to backlink your self from my site ;-) under a different name!

But you seem to have done a good job as you are just about there now just under me, you may even get to number #1 by 7th June!

    Well Done!

All is fair in love and war... is that what they say?

Let hope that we can both make a little money from this launch....

It's because sniper sites are so laser keyword targeted to a single keyword i.e. the product name. As these product launches are so competitive it is also important to have many high PR backlinks as well.

Mostly it is common that sniper sites lose ranking quickly and one beat another.Get backlinks from various sources and diversify your linkbuilding that gives you ranking back again.

It's funny that so many people are torturing themselves with "Google Sniper" sites, trying to rank for clickbank products/names....where EVERY OTHER IMer and their mama will try rank those same products.

It is silly for two reasons:

    a) Competition

    b) The majority of the $$$ for those products is not made from organic SEO to your site (of course, there will always be people looking for "XYZ review" etc...but its IMO non significant) - BUT FROM PEOPLE PROMOTING ON THEIR LISTS

    c) There are approx. 9 billion ever-green and profitable niches with great keywords, there is no reason to promote "Sniper Sites" promoting the latest, hyped up Guru product from clickbank

    d) MANY clickbank products are simply spoken crap and overhyped and many sniper sites feature "pseudo reviews".

    e) sooner or later the hype for the clickbank product will reside

    f) the vendors/creators of the product(s) USUALLY only give you hyped up promo material and tell you their next product is on about the level of the next coming of Christ. In reality, 85% of those products are garbage. You will end up with a bunch of sniper sites for products which ultimately will have many refunds, bad reviews etc. AFTER THEY ACTUALLY GOT RELEASED because only then it becomes clear that it all was only hype. And you are the fool who wasted time/money to make the site.

So true - a vicious cycle, mate!

And even if these turn-key/push button systems work half the time, there eventually be hordes of marketers doing the same thing outranking each other, adding to the steepness of the competition.

Same thing happened to me. I had a niche site I built around a keyword that is getting 9900 exact searches a month. By the time I was finished building my site I was ranked on the first page. Then I moved up to number 2. I also got a video on the first page. I rode this wave for about a month and then someone came in and saw my site and did a a site about the same as mine his domain was the same also, just with a (y) at the end and now he is number 2 and I went to like 18 and now I finally got my site back up to first page, but I am like number 9...

This really sucks that people see your sites and copy and add a x, or y to it and out rank you. I wouldn't have minded if he just didn't copy me... He even points his site to the exact same clickbank product and this keyword was a hidden match to this product. Most people would not have paired this keyword to this product...

        Sucks Man!

I found a great plug-in to protect your Wordpress sites from plagarism. It's called WP Copy Protect. It basically "locks" your content by disabling the right-click function and the ability to highlight text by click and dragging.

      This.

Why don't you use the technique to rank and sell proper physical products that are sold via commission junction or amazon? If you select your product correctly, you won't have a ton of competition from other IMers and you will still get a benefit from your work in a years time (i.e. consistent sales)

Since starting this thread I tried my luck at another "sniper site" review for another Clickbank Guru-hyped product, Instant Affiliate Paydays.

I managed to secure the domain "instantaffiliatepaydays.org" and with doing exactly the same on-page SEO and using the same plug-ins I used when promoting Cash Renegade, I was delighted to find I was not only on the first page of Google, but #1 in the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Ireland for the keyword "instant affiliate paydays" and #3 in the US (which fluctuated quite alot during launch).

So is it just the luck of the draw if Google finds your site first and qualifies it the most relevant for the chosen keywords? I'm still trying to figure this one out.

      Mike
P.S. It was a nice little payday being #1 on launch day

I totally agree with you and my review concluded this.

The purpose of this thread, however, was to discuss how some "sniper" sites are ranked higher by Google than others using the same or similar methods, not to compare which latest scam is the biggest rip-off.

My reviews always give an honest, indepth video review and yes I agree most are a con claiming instant success is only a few clicks away.

To be honest these sniper review sites are not my main attention, but merely a bit of fun and I've learnt a few tricks along the way.

I am making most of my money with my own product and I totally recommend you go down this route if you can.

Getting a few commissions is fine for a "set & forget" couple of hours work, but long term it's about building a solid business principle and offer your own unique product.

This way you will build your own brand or name and be recognised in your own field. Obviously it takes time, commitment, dedication and investment to take it to the next level. But can also be fun and exciting getting there.

Just thought I'd share that with you

If Cash Renegade is on their game, you're toast.

You have now essentially set up a negative campaign to promote a second product. This is not an unbiased review site. It has the product name splattered all over it. You are now trading off that product name to get users to click on your Google Sniper link.

This is why product owners have affiliate agreements. And those agreements tend to have large penalties for this type of campaign (negative campaigns and using the word scam to promote a product which is a tag in your last post). Trying to argue that you would not be a party to that agreement would be hard ... you still have your affiliate link visible on the home page. And if you try and argue that you are not an affiliate and are successful, then you open yourself for breach of copyright issues (infringing their domains, trademarks, images etc).

Sliding rankings is the least of your worries right now.

That's sad nowadays.Everybody does this 5 page non-sense websites fighting to make a quick 1000 $on the launch day. It's like the Sniper War(just my opinion ).

If you would had consistently worked on creating more backlinks, social bookmarking your content, improving your website after you saw that you ranked 1# for the buyer keyword, you shouldn't have been outranked. But,if you didn't did so,it's pretty obvious why you're site was outranked.

Think of it this way. There are another 1000 people that saw that the launch is coming, rushed to godaddy to take the best domains, installed the best wp plugins added their "unbiased honest review" after the "5 pre-launch posts of DOOM" and stuffed the posts with buyer keywords.Maybe the other guy had better quality backlinks.Hell knows! But the bottom line is that you need to think outside the box to win the "Sniper War".

It sounds to me like you are not being pushed lower in your rankings because of what someone else is doing, it is most likely because of what you are not doing. Must out backlink the competition, quality backlinks and more of them!

Very interesting thread, I was just wondering mike, who registered their domain first? Your competition sniper site as you call it could have been working on his site a couple of weeks before you started yours and got ahead start....

There are many factors as to why Google will rank very similar sites differently and as I speak, I am doing a test run on a new launch based on your Instant Affiliate Paydays review site to see if the same results or similar can be achieved. I am doing this with no backlink building to this new review site and on the other side of the coin, I am doing the same product review on another site with the usual backlinking strategy etc to see what happens... keep you posted
