I dont think you'll be able to change the domain but you can register the one that you want and just redirect the traffic from the old domain to your new domain.

    Hi,

Use 301 redirection or rel= canonical from your old domain to the new one. Using same content wont affect more. Better use different content.

If you do a redirect, there shouldn't be any problems. Anyway, I don't think there is any penalty for duplicate content except that the original one will always rank highest in the Google search engine. Correct me if I am wrong.

Register a new domain upload all pages to new domain. Remove all pages from old domain & redirect it to the new one...
