I have some keywords, I just can't get any higher, while others make it to #1. I am just wondering if I should keep spending more time rewriting it, or if I should just move on, and let time, and work on increasing Page Rank and other things. I'm just not sure how much more effort on one article is worth it.

I noticed that if I just write an article as I think it should be, I may rank at position 44. If I rewrite it based on Density, I may move up to 14 or so. Other times I may go straight to #1 overnight. Other keywords that I have across my website, to the point of embarrassment, I am still not even ranking for. I think I may need a higher page rank before google will care.

Thoughts?

Your post seems to focus only on the on-page aspects of SEO. Remember that SEO consists of on-page and off-page SEO.

If you are currently at a #14th position and are ranking for your keyword with little or no off-page SEO, then you have no doubt done well with the on-page aspect and need to begin focusing on the off-page SEO methods.

Off-page SEO methods, better known as backlinking, include; Article Writing, Blog Posting, Forum Posting, Social Booking Marking to name a few. A quick forum search will yield countless well written posts on this popular topic.

When you write an article for your site, if you want to rank, you should write with the search engines in mind. Your article should include your keyword and related keywords to maximize your mileage.

Once you have your article in place with the keywords sprinkled through out, then start backlinking to that page.

As you have keywords all over your site that you are not ranking for, you likely just need to do some more backlinking to those pages, using the keywords for anchor text.

Another thing you can do is to go to Google Adwords tool and pop your website name in the search field and see what Google thinks your site is about. Hopefully, the results will be what you are aiming for. In the process, you may find a number of related keywords that you hadn't thought of that Google "knows" your site for. Take those keywords and make sure your site is optimized for them. As Google already associates your site with those terms, optimizing for them will give you even higher rankings for them. Some of these may be long tail keywords and once you have captured top rankings for those you can more easily drill down and get the shorter tails.

LilBlackDress: I put my website into the Website box, but nothing came up. I guess Google doesn't like me at, even though I rank highly for a ton of stuff.

WinLin: I have done very little offsite SEO. What I had done was very successful, but then Google changed the algorithm and all my articles dropped off the planet. So, I stopped bothering.

I also have a follow up question about backlinking, but thought it was important enough to start it's own thread.

Content alone is not going to get you to the first page. You need backlinks.

I think the only thing you need is quality backlinks. This is very important to boost your website into the first page. As I know that blog comment is the good way to help your website achieve higher ranking.

To rank the keywords, you are writing articles. Write the articles through the point of Search Engine. Keep the keyword density 3 to 4 % and submit it in good article sites like ezine, articledashboard.
