Hi guys. Do you ping your backlinks, or do you just let google find them naturally?

I just got a fiverr gig done, 20 .edu and .gov backlinks, should I ping them?

Becareful with pinging services out there and make sure you research them, it's not something we've talked about just because it isn't important to our service. Due to the way Linklicious works it isn't banned.

Some of the services out there piggyback off of pingomatic and run links through there. We even tried to do that at first. However, we found that it'll ban the IP with a Slowdown Cowboy error after a random number of pings - between 200 and 3000. The way the in browser pings work you'll never see this error and will only see success messages.

You can set up a test for yourself and see. In Chrome turn off javascript security and fire up the javascript debugger (control-shift-J) to watch the messages. You need to add a listener for each of the iframe load events and run an xpath of the iframe contents to pull out the h2.

This looks pretty cool... I was going to buy a bit of software on here, that turns your urls into one rss link, that you can then ping... but it looks like this site does the same thing?

I do not think that pinging help for indexing by Google, if the site and the pages of the site already indexed by Google then your link will be indexed very soon, without doing any other activity like pinging, bookmarking.

Ya exactly Google will index your link if the website have enough caching power, if no then even after pinging your link will not be indexed.

I suggest instead of pinging build backlinks to the built links. It will not only make sure those links will get cached up but also you will be on safer side. So instead of buying a pinging software buy a software which can throw some quick links.

I do believe pinging is a good practice but u should not ping more then one time and should not use more then one ping service! If u do these then it will send a bad message to search engines that u are spamming! So be careful!

Yeah If necessary I ping my backlinks for just one time and use pingfarm.com. Its good for mass pinging and fast too.

U should not ping any post of website like warriorforum.com. This site is frequently crawl by google spiders and pinging any thread of warriorfourm is just wast of time.

Exactly, nothing will be ever done by search engines, otherwise anyone could easily ping their competitors and put them out of business... Thankfully it doesn't work that way though, because that would be very silly.

I would love to see your case studies on this, in our close to Billions of pings we have not seen multiple pings prior to a crawl hurting a link in any way. How many billions of links have you pinged? We actually test this stuff, we don't just spurt out opinions.

Side not: And ping-o-matic lets you ping over 30 services at once.

Also, do a google search for social monkee or click on my signature below and get 25 unique social bookmarking backlinks everyday for free. It's so easy to use and it has a spinner so our backlinks look natural and not like spam. Oh, and did I mention it's a free tool!

What type of backlinks do you build to your backlinks? I like to build low quality backlinks and plenty of them to related, high authority forum profile links and web 2.0s.

On a side note, dont you still have to ping your lower quality backlinks

Depending on how the links are delivered it is completely spam free too. Also very scalable. We fully plan on having 15,000 sites on the network by the end of 2011. We have used mostly wordpress on the sites so far. But are adding article directories, joomla sites and three or four other types to our network. Our aim of course is too generate as much diversity as we can.

The key to making this happen is to have enough of a budget to handle the cost of seo hosting. Which for us right now is around $1750 a month when we add all our hosting vendors together. It's a costly mining operation to say the least.

But let me tell you...'there is GOLD in them there hills.'

Most of the system was designed by my brother (Marc_L here on the forum). I'm just the loudmouth taking all the credit for it.

Hi Matt, big fan of yours. Do you think it would more effective to expand your network rather then backlink to 25% of your network backlinks?

and do you think it would it be a bad idea to submit spun articles to 100% of your network when ranking sites?

So if I wanted to rank for "table tops" and did a spun article for that keyword and submitted it to all the sites in my network, would that be ok?

We're expanding both actually. We do not allow any one given article to go out to all our sites as it would leave a footprint. Instead we keep it down to around the 30% mark.

Thank you so much for replying, that's really interesting! but it must be hard to keep a track of! I'm guessing you have more then one AMR!

In your opinion do you think it would be worthwhile if I set up my own mini blog network of 500 sites as I would really love to try it out but I don't have a couple of thousand dollars to just chuck away. I'm not sure if I will be able to rank my websites with a small blog network, do you think 500 blog sites is enough to start ranking websites?

          Also, just one last question....

Would I be leaving a big fooprint if all 500 sites have a link to one website? or am I ok as long as I spin the articles (submitting to only 30% per article) ?

          I hope I understood correctly.

Agreed ... I didnt find mere pinging to be all that helpful - but then i was going for indexation of the pages the links were on ...

Building Links to your links on autopilot or as close to it as possible was the inspiration to develop energizer ... it works with the proper setup and initial care. Why ping when you can INDEX with power :-)

Is there an advantage of creating an RSS feed of the links and then submitting the RSS feed to directories over just submitting the backlinks URL's to a site such as pingdevice.com
Yes...some rss services like linkicious will ping your rss feed every hour on the hour until it gets crawled. Whereas pingmyblog.com pings them all only once.

But I think it's the rss feeds that is sucking the juice out of profile links now. Google finds them all in chunks that way instead of a spattering here and there. As soon as rss feed services came into play the juice diminished remarkably.

Nobody's mentions Linklicious.me - Scheduled RSS Feeds to get your Backlinks Crawled FAST yet.

Drip feed RSS & Ping all in one. Free or paid accounts.

I have a client site that is ranking with a competitive KW using a multi-tier backlinking structure. It's a new site and is ranking well without that many links directly to the site. So, I am a fan of backlinking your backlinks.

I periodically ping all my BLs with PingFarm.

I build backlinks to my backlinks using BacklinkEnergizer and SEOLinkRobot and AutomaticBacklinkCreator plugin. Works well, I am happy with the results.

I use MajesticSEO to discover my blognet BL urls.

So far I have started pinging my links for one site, but only the farthest of them, so that they are discovered and help me get the ones closer to the site indexed.

I'm still testing this one out but it seems like a good way to get the benefits of both worlds mentioned in this thread.

I usually ping them and then post them on twitter and then ping my twitter page. Twitter is almost a guarantee to get your link noticed.

I ping them all except for links that you would think would not normally be pinged. Usually if I get forum profiles I will not ping them. I am not sure if it matters or not. Just the way that I do it.

I never ping my backlinks. I let google find them naturaly. But I am building tens of thousands of links per day and this is probably the reason why my sites don't get deindexed.

    Hello,
I am pretty new in this backlinging.
So,can somebody explain to me what it is pinging, what that term mean?,why is that important and how to do that?
What will happen if we not do pinging backlinks?
And what if we have backlinks service?

    Thank you

yes i didn't ping them at first. and only got around 10-20 indexed as soon as i started pinging i now have around 300-400 indexed! But don't over do it. Sometimes its better just have them sitting around and gradually getting indexed!

Sometimes pinging backlinks is real crucial. If they are getting backlinks from websites with less crawler visits their backlinks won't get crawled easily. In such cases backlink pinging is very important.

I do not agree that pinging is waste of time. I do ping regularly and i have got excellent results - One more thing i would like to share that i found better results when i use HTML code instead of BB Code.
