What is Google map submission?

I would like to ask, what is the purpose of Google Map submission? How Google map submission is to be done for a newly assigned projects?

If Any one is having any idea about this, Please let me know here!

    Google Maps or Google Site Map? They are different things altogether.

    If you're talking about Google Site Maps, then this place would generate a Google Site Map for free. Then you need to submit at Google Webmaster Tool as well as other SEs.

    At the same time, you can use it as a PAGE in your web site as a SITE MAP.

    Purpose is efficiency and Best Business Practice, which Google is obsessed about. It will improve your ranking.

    If you're talking about Google Maps, then the submissions are for purely BackLinking purposes, thus may improve your Ranks in Searches for Businesses.

    You can submit your Google Maps and other Maps to Local Directories for backlinking. These are some places that would be good to submit your Maps to:
    1. Google Places
    2. Yahoo Local
    3. Bing Maps
    4. AOL Local Yellow Pages
    5. Best Of The Web Local ( botw.org )
    6. Superpages
    7. many more

    You're not actually submitting Google Maps to them because each has its own mapping system. You're actually pinpointing each business location plus business info on their Map Directories.
