webmaster tools help please..

Hey warriors.

I am trying to verify my site for google webmaster tools, and google told me to upload a file to my site.

So i went into cpanel and uploaded it but it does not seem to work lol

It's wordpress installed on the domain so is there something different that i have to do.

When i go to cpanel and go to the domain in public html. there are no files there, but if i just go to public html then i see my word press files, so do i upload the webmaster html to one of my wordpress files or what?

If someone could please help me out

  • wordpress works the same way. sounds like you just uploaded it to the wrong directory. perhaps you should use ftp and make this a bit easier?
  • I don't know about ftp, i like cpanel :-)

    Do you know which directory i upload it to is it a wp-,
  • i just had a look again and there is a wp-admin,wp-content and wp-includes, directories, does anyone know which one i upload to please.

    Don't use the upload file option.

    Use the code that you paste into your site/page source code.

    I just noticed it and had a little fidle around and it worked woohhoooo :-)

    I am stuck on something else now though lol, i have the simple site map plugin.

    But how do i submit my site map to webmaster tools?

    another thing in webmaster tools it won't tell me my keywords or my links :-(

    doeas anyone know why, is it because i have only just added the site to webmaster?

      GWT (Google Webmaster Tools) will only show data from the first day you post the tracking code on your site --> forward. So everything in the past won't show up in GWT.

      Also, GWT is like 5 days behind when it updates keywords, etc... (very slow).
