I need a good rank checker; suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if you all could suggest a good, free - or reasonably price piece of software that will allow me to check multiple pages for specific keywords in Google and the other major search engines.

I need to be able to save projects. Ideally, I should be able to track SERPs progress of the keywords. I need to be able to select countries (ie, Google US), and the software needs to be accurate.

I looked at CuteRank. The first time I tried it, it didn't even find my sites, though one of them is clearly ranking at number three in US Google results, so I don't think I'll go with that program. I like Rank Tracker, but I think the version which allows saving is pretty expensive.

Anything else out there that's not so pricey you'd all recommend? Thanks for your suggestions!

Cheers

Look into sescout. There free package is limited but they offer enough to track main pages on your website.

I personally use RankTracker, It is very accurate (I believe it to be the best one out there from what others are saying as well)

FYI, if you ever decide you want Market Samurai, then it is included within that software too.

Traffic Travis is free and has some sort of rank checking built in, though I'm sure is nowhere nearly as robust as some of the other ones such as SEO Rank Checker and so on. But hey it's free!

Thanks all; keep suggestions coming, if anyone has anymore. I will look into SEOScout; and failing that, should no other good suggestions come, will perhaps consider buying Rank Tracker. I am impressed with its accuracy (it always matches manual queries using the Google Global extension for Chrome). I'd do it all manually, but I need to be able to save and track results.

    Best Regards

Rank Checker is free through SEOBook free subscription and is good, but not sure about saving projects. The free version of Traffic Travis does a good job and you can save your projects, as well as do lots of other handy research.

Anything free is going to be "limited" but I understand being frugal. I used Rank Tracker (for free) for a long time, after not liking everything else, until I got too many clients. It is well worth the money, in my book. Someone will surely reply with the "live plan 12-month scare scam" mention, but just read the TOS if you decide to buy it and it is no problem.

My favorite rank checking tool is part of my SEOMoz subscription, but I also use the Firefox plugin rank checker with decent results.

Just be sure to log out of Google and clear your cookies! :-)

Also, what about analytics? You can track the number of visits to each page and the keywords that referred them...in my case that's a more meaningful metric, only I recognize sometimes clients want to know rankings.

I always used to use Rank Tracker, but it can be a bit bulky and bandwidth thirsty if you have a lot of keywords. I've recently started using SEScout and it's excellent. If you have a small KW list, you can prob get away with the free version as well.

The great thing is that it's web based, so its completely automated (good for reporting) and doesn't require bandwidth.

Rank tracker is decent, it isn't always spot on though, I frequently have to double check all my links.

I tried out SEscout earlier today and have been pretty impressed so far, especially considering it's free. The interface was clean and intuitive and just easy to use overall. I also like the fact that it's web-based.

However, it seems like it doesn't tell you which page of the domain is ranking for each keyword, which is kind of a deal breaker for me. In some cases it may be obvious which page is ranking for which keyword, but not always and I'd hate to have to figure it out. Anyone else have this problem?

For Google research I use Semrush, it reasonably priced fro me, it's possible to check countries, and there are different types of reports, and also you can order your custom report. And many other things it can do. Hope this helps you.

I like Rank checker but will try out some of the suggestions mentioned above. I don't have any complaints about rank checker but might find something better. One thing I do like about rank checker is I am able to save my results and keep them all on file.

I think best rank checker for Google Us is Firefox seobook rank checker, its not only gives ranking of keyword for Google, but also tells ranking of Yahoo and Bing. Its shows results from first 20 pages.

yes ranktracker is good but inconsistent so you have to watch it before you give those results to clients
