Hi:

Is it best to run SENuke and Scrapebox on a Separate Lapotp or a VPS?

Follow up question...if I run them on a VPS, do I still have to get some kind of proxy service?

Thanks,
CT

    Hello,

To be honest, I don't see the problem of using it on your main computer. However, if you are trying to use a lot of these services at once then it will surely suck up your memory. If you are planning to run multiple services at once I would strongly recommend a VPS.

The fact that I have a quad core computer running with xRumer, scrapebox and SErobot al together will knock my computer out, if I also do general stuff next to running these services.

If you want to spare some cash, don't buy a VPS and run those services at night while you are sleeping.

    Steven

    PS.

Well you are on the IP of your VPS then. VPS is like having a second computer somewhere else in the world. So if that IP gets banned by making a lot of accounts on the same site with the same IP, then yes you need a proxy.

So it sounds like I probably would do well to run it on a second computer with a proxy service.

This appears to be the one for me to go with:

    Hi Charles,

You can run both Scrapebox and SENuke on the same system, providing your computer can handle it, this is why I prefer to use my powerful desktop for this type of software,as it has no problem with this task. You can change some of the settings in Scrapebox and SENuke to use a certain amount of threads (processor related) and connections to have it better run on a laptop if any performance issues did arrive.

I have heard a few people run SENuke and Scrapebox on fairly good laptops, it seems the software runs better than you would expect.

I don't use VPS's often but it is a viable and cost effective way to get all of these programs and run them without a hitch (most of the time) The thing I like about VPS's is that you often get all the software you need bundled up onto the VPS at a much cheaper price than you would pay per month for the usual software!

But yes, you would still need to get your own proxies to use in SENuke and ScrapeBox, etc, unless you bought some kind of VPS SEO package that included them

Well, I think you are directing this where I expected.

I will try my old Gateway Tablet PC with XP and see how that works out.

I will need to get my campaigns running by Sunday so that is probably the easiest.

Really with computers these days the only thing you need to be concerned with it NOT the computer.

Your main issue will be the bandwidth allowance with whoever you get internet from. Comcast, AT&T, etc. Comcast may give you 250 GB. You will blow through that with constant Scrapebox use only.

I'd rent a VPS with unmetered bandwidth.

I've been using HideMyAss with SENuke for a while. I've had no probs so far. I have an affiliate link but I don't know if this board allows posting affiliate links in posts. Can a mod message me to let me know please?

    NO :-)

Use a VPS to get good results. Otherwise these tools will eat your bandwidth and add a delay to your own works with PC or Laptop. I use XSserver.Eu ($35/month) to run Senukex, Scrapebox, AMR and BMD. This price is damn cheap when i consider electricity and internet bills.

$35 is a pretty good price although I have heard somebody talk of something in the $19.99 range.

But $35 is less than what I pay for my VPS for all of my websites.

      Thanks blog8491!

Forgot to mention private proxies, VPN and Captcha charges.
        Private proxies = $20 - 30 /month (YPP, Squid Proxies)
        VPN = $10/month (Overplay)
        Captcha = $1.39 for 1000 solved CAPTCHAs.(deathbycaptcha)

I've been running everthing on a VPS after hiring a VA a while ago and wow, even if I don't have a VA I'll be keeping the VPS. It's so worthwhile to run software on it.

Are those of you who are using the VPS...is that all you are using is the one (1) IP address on senuke or scrapebox, or do you have other websites that you are running?

I don't host any web sites in a VPS which includes SEO tools. That's why I use VPN or Proxy.

VPN = When I create accounts with Senukex.
Proxy = When I do submissons.

I do a lot of scrapeboxing and I've yet to use a VPS. Maybe my ISP is more tolerant of my bandwidth usage? Perhaps..

In any case, if you're looking at doing a moderate amount of scrapeboxing I HIGHLY recommend using a virtual machine. I use VMS for all of my IM software and take daily snapshots.

If a virus ravages my VM, oh well, hit the snapshot and it goes back to where I want it.

Is it easy to set up scrapebox on a vps?
I only have wireless internet where I live
If I run scrapebox from my pc in 1 hr it uses 1gig to visit 10 000 sites
I only have 10 gigs data transfer a month so I can only run it for a while.
When it is set up on a vps can it be just left to run (ie the bandwidth will be part of my hosting and not my internet provider)
Thanks for any help in this most interesting thread
    Sincerely
    Andrew

SEN doesnt take too much cpu, scrapebox as well if you are using an optimized list, you can even multiple instances and a vps will be fine with the right list. Proxies will matter down the line to protect your vps/dedi ip, sites can easily see through proxies but it lowers the chance of getting your main ip flagged

I think that what matters is actually your internet bandwith. The softwares can prob run in windows 97 lol. All you really need is sufficient bandwith.

I use a VPS as well. HostTheName (or a company they own) is running a WSO at the moment for $35 per month for the smallest package.
