Hey

I am very new to IM i have always been told that a great way to get back links for my site is to write Articles, wich i took on board and have been doing everyday for the past 3 months. I have been submitting them to Go articles, Article Base and probably about 10 more different high PR sites.

My issue is that i did a back link check on my site and it doesn't have one link from any article sites.

Just looking for a little help here, am i missing a steps is there something i should be doing after i publish my article? I there a programme i should purchase?

Any help would be greatly appropriated i am getting so frustrrated and PO as it seems three months of work has been wasted.

Thank you in advance for reading my question and your thoughts

May seem like a silly question but have you added hyper link code in your articles?

These sites should get picked up by the search engines daily however it is always worth pinging your articles once submitted so the search engines can find you articles and then follow the links to your site.

Use a service like pingoat or pingomatic

Thanks for getting back to me, yes i put the links in my resource box as that's what i was told to do, so if i ping them with one of those programmes then i will start seeing some links?

If the search engines still haven't indexed your articles yet, then pinging could help with that, although it's strange that after 3 months you still haven't seen any links appear. Have you tried clicking on the links to make sure that they redirect you to the correct site? Perhaps you should also send an email to the article directory help desks to see if there's some other kind of problem going on.

If it's the site in your sig-file, I just looked on Backlink Watch, and it has over 1,000 backlinks showing there (I think that site shows only the first 1,000).

No backlink checker is really reliable.

You speak of "high PR sites", but websites don't "have page rank". Only pages have page rank.

Your articles in article directories will all on be on PR-0 pages, regardless of the page rank of those directories' home pages (which is what you're actually thinking of), because your articles aren't on their home pages.

Articles directory backlinks are non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlinks, and typically one would need something between 50,000 and 100,000 of them to confer the link-juice equivalent to one backlink from a relevant authority site. At least, that's what the authors of the established SEO textbooks were saying before Google's recent algorithm change. My own guess is that the true number is even higher than that now (i.e. those backlinks are of even lower value).

Relevance is more important, overall, than page-rank, anyway.

All the people who have told you that writing articles is a great way to get backlinks for your site have given you half the story (or less). What matters is what you do with the articles. Their backlinks depend on where they're published.

I think it may help you a bit to read this thread, this thread and the incidental conversations in this thread.

Firstly, if your using the link: operator in Google it only shows a small sample.

See this video for more info on link: operator

Now, most link checkers use Yahoo Site Explorer and connect using an API (Application Programming Interface), so they are not 100% accurate, and only show a portion of links - in fact no link checker is completely accurate.

Article Marketing is only one method of backlinking you should be pursuing, I would start utilizing:
    • Social bookmarking
    • Forums (posts and profiles)
    • Link directories
    • Blog Commenting
    • Etc.

It sounds like you have been investing a lot of time into this, I would suggest against it. I would focus on creating lots of monetized content on your website, and either outsource to freelancers or reliable Backlink building providers. In addition, I would invest in automation software, such as Magic Submitter.

    If need anything PM me.

    Goodluck,
