How much quality does a forum post have as far as a backlink?

I've been participating in relevant forum with my website link in my signature.

If I'm posting three or four times a day, are they each considered a quality backlink in Google's eyes? Or how well does this actually help my standing in the page results?

If you are doing niche related forum posting then it useful for you as it will bring referral traffic, such visitors are willingly coming to your site because of your discussion in forum posts. That's why such visitors can be easily turned into successful sales leads. As a backlink it will add value to your site, as its coming from niche related forum.

I agree. However, before joining a forum, see to it that the topics of threads are relevant to your site. Also, quality interaction is much better than just joining a lot of forums. Keep your comments upbuilding. You'll want to make sure that each comment you share is worth a reaction from someone in the group. If people are getting something good from your comments, they are most likely to check you out, and visit your site, or find out more about your business.

I've never really looked at profiles as a primary way of getting backlinks. (Though they do help.) Instead, I've always looked for niche related forums that I can post at. You'll get a fair amount of traffic from your signature alone. Plus, it's one of my favorite ways to build a list at no cost.

Based on my own experience forum posting back-links seem to be very effective. I dedicate my time doing it in a regular basis. I get one of my site in the 4th position in Google for a highly competitive keywords in a matter of 3 months by using only two link building methods article marketing and forum posting.

To answer your question the way it helps you as far as seo is concerned is every time you post something with your signature in the bottom of your post and that link get indexed you get credit for it which will improve your ranking in the long run.

I've been posting a few times each day for the past week, and I have seen an increase in traffic. I also never had much traffic before that anyways because my site is only about a month old.

I am wondering why my website is on page 1 on both bing and yahoo for my targeted keyword, but it isn't anywhere to be found in google's search results.

How often does google update the search results? According to my competition, I really believe that I should be somewhere in the search results but I'm not.

Anyone have an answer for this?

It all depends on the niche and current level of competition, but in general they will give very little value for anything that would be considered even remotely competitive.

Now that is simply a SEO point of view for SERP placement,

If your looking at niche forum posting and the benefits of brand / site awareness and relationship building that's a different animal all together.

When you create your profile with signature backlinks, ping, submit or bookmark it. Google will find and index your link, this will count backlinks.
If you post a lot this will contribute to your building link value, but it has very small value, you must have hundreds post and this equal than few quality backlinks.
So if you want building by profile link, build it at different sites, you can make it index by two ways:
    a)- Ping the links
    - Combine to RSS
    - Submit this RSS
    - Bookmark this RSS
    b) Post about 5-10 post at these forum.

And with your method, post 3 or 4 post per day at a forum, it will attract readers to your website only. If you have 1000 post, it will be a big change to your site rank. My few cents.

Forum Posting is really very helpful for back links. Build links from different forums as Google give preference to links coming from different sources/IP.

That depends on the PR of the domain, and whether or not the backlink is dofollow. Google counts backlinks on the same domain 1 time. Hope that helps.

Forums work really great- however a lot of forums don't allow you to have signatures to prevent spammers from taking over. I find that posting links in RELEVANT threads work the best. I have #1 spots because of savvy forum posting, for really competitive keywords.

Forum is the good way to get quality backlinks. In each of your post, you can add the signature with link. So, whenever you make a new post on any forum, you'll get one new quality backlinks, But mare sure the forum must be relevant to your niche. For example if your blog is related to technology then the forum also must be related to technology. Do Follow signature links are even better.

The thing with forum posts as with other backlinks, if you are posting 3 to 4 times a day in the same topic, they all wouldn't be counted individually

For me nice forums and niche blogs I get great results. I enjoy the forums and participate a lot. The blogs, I look for something in my niche but interesting to me. That way I don't get bored! High PR blogs tend to pass on more link juice than the forums.

Yes Forum sigs are one one of the effective backlinking method that can get you ranked quicker.

I only prefer forum sig links from forums that are dofollow and are with high PR. I usually spend my time collecting forums PR3+ (which helps our links to get crawled quickly).
