Adwords banned my account

Not exactly a new development I see this written somewhere every day.
But here`s the thing I have not used it for almost 2 years.
Maybe in their small print an account has to be active I have yet to look.
About 5 years ago I was using adwords then over time I found out it was more cost effective to generate my own free organic traffic.
About 2 years ago I stopped buying traffic from this platform all together.
I have not sent 1 visitor via my adwords campaign toward any website.
Maybe if they checked the websites I previously were sending toward no longer existed or were not in accordance to terms.
Why would they check I am not buying any traffic?
I think that is as heavy handed as a seller of traffic can be.
On to facebook and other mediums if the need ever arises.
Quite a shock when you are not even using there advertising platform and they can still ban you.
