Hi warriors.

I have a website that I launched about 4 weeks ago and i've been having some trouble to get it ranked.

It's ranking like this: mywebsite,com/tag/tagname on google.

1 week after launch it was ranked 22 on google with the proper domain name in the search result och suddenly it got ranked with the tag instead and after that it disappeared entirely and had no rank on Google.

1 week after it disappeared it came back and now it's currently ranked 97 in google and ranked on a tag again.

I'm having no trouble with yahoo and bing.

Yahoo rank: 5
Bing rank: 6

The site is a wordpress blog in the videogame niche. It's written from my own experience with the game with a good keyword density.

This tag does not exist anymore I changed it 2 weeks ago and it's still there. Is Google messing with me?

Or could there be an error in the html code causing it to rank the website on the tag?

I've only been doing IM for 6 weeks and I still have to learn alot about SEO, but I have other sites that rank well with the same setup as this one.

Any ideas? I really need help with this.

Has Google cached your site since you removed the tag? Have you built links to the page after changing the tag? It could take Google a while to make the updates if you don't have links to the site. If you PM me your domain I can look at your on-page seo and see if there are any problems there.

Can you pm me your e-mail? So I can send you the domain name.

    Is it a WordPress site?

Do you have a sitemap? Take a look at SEO Platinum if you are and XML Sitemaps both can help you tell Google what you want your site to look like. SEO Platinum will let you choose it make your tags and categories no index. The XML Sitemap will ping Google when you update your sitemap.

That ping MIGHT help Google come back and take a look. Use your sitemap to build some backlinks.

It takes a while for Google update things too.

Hi Rusty yes it's a wordpress site.

I'm currently using SEOpressor to make the site friendly to search engines and I also have google XML sitemaps installed.

Whenever I change a post or content on the site i rebuild the sitemap manually and send additional pings.

But I haven't been building any links to the site since I changed the tags. Maybe that's something to look into.

I'm tracking my traffic and can see that crawl from googlebot.com have been visiting my site everyday.

Sounds like typical 'Google Dance' This is nothing to worry about and is normal behavior. Most SEO results can take 4-6 months to really set in. Don't be alarmed.

Yahoo/Bing put more emphasis on exact match domains, so if you have a good domain it makes sense that you're ranking high for them. In Google, four weeks isn't enough time to evaluate how well a site is doing. You're going to jump around a lot for the first couple of months.

I don't really suggest doing a video game website, as interest in them quickly wanes. A general video game website would be good, but one for specific games isn't ideal.

Marvon, search for Automatic Backlink Creator within Warrior Forum. It is a good product at a reasonable price and will help with your back linking. Not my product, I get nothing but I do use it.
