How soon is too soon?

Simply put, how soon after a site/ page is indexed should you start building links to it?

I seem to have better results when I let a new site or page sit around for a few weeks before I slowly start building links....

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanx!

Build the links when your ready to have your site listed in the SERPs.

Thanks for the reply, yukon...I appreciate it!

So, basically what you are saying is that it is never too early ever...As soon as the site or page goes live to start building links?

    Sounds good

For me, I wait about a week and then I begin my link building campaign consistently until I get to page one, and this method has proven very effective as I now get four figure hits/day across 5 of my sites.

Never too early. Just make sure your site is ready and properly optimized.

I have started on sites the minute that I bought the domain. I throw up a page that is optimized and slowly start with commenting, or a few links here and there but nothing major. The key is to remember if you start a new site and get 500 links right away and then tail off quickly, it will look bad for you. You should have a slow steady build up with your links. This eventually looks like your new site gained credibility over time and people started linking to it.

    n_touch,

    What is a good rate?

How many links per day on the first day, second day, 50th day?

I know that is an almost impossible question. I am just curious as to what others do...To be honest, I feel like I probably move at too slow a pace.....

    Thanx!

Start building links as soon as possible but slowly.

Why would you want to build links slowly?
(unless we are competing, of course. The go very slow.)

It takes a while for any to be noticed.

The sooner and faster, the better.

Yes, build links as much as you can.

However, stay away from services such as 10,000 COMMENT BLASTS!!! and 10,000 PROFILE BLASTS!!!

That will get you into trouble real quick on a new site.

I agree, stay away from the huge profile blasts.

You'll want to keep building links consistently from a variety of sources, then it really is only a matter of time until you hit page 1.
