Should I avoid using my targeted keywords when I submit articles to directories? I don´t want my article so rank for my keywords, I want my own site to rank.

How do you guys do?

Yes you want to use your targeted keywords. Why would you not want your article to rank? You can can have both rank - your site will mostly outrank the article unless you get the article more quality backlinks than your site which is out of the norm.

    Very wise, clearly.

But you can achieve this, in the long run, simply by always publishing all your articles on your own site first and not submitting them to any article directories until after they've been indexed. Exactly as explained here by so many successful, professional article marketers.

You're not writing separate, different articles for directories, surely? (Now that would concern me a bit, I admit).

All directory articles are published on their own non-context-relevant, PR-0 pages (regardless of the page rank of the directory's home page). It's extremely easy to outrank them, with even minimal SEO. Especially these days, since Google's latest algorithm changes have kindly helped out article marketers by getting most of those poxy directory copies slapped right down the SERP's.

Using your targeted keywords for your articles is really helpful especially when you are still establishing your website

No harm in having the article rank for your keywords.

      Ok, thank you all!

I must say that this is by far the most friendly forum I´ve ever joined. One could think that internet marketers would be afraid to tip each other, but this forum is clearly the proof of the opposite.

      Once again, thank you!

Article submission can be named as one way of spreading the word about websites, blogs and profiles and getting some minor links in the meantime as well. While writing contents and publishing them to directories, using your main targeted keyterms is OK because the anchors would gradually help your main website, which would act as recipient of the incoming links experiencing better web ranks.

One issue raised on this page is whether publishing your articles on your own website or submitting them to directories. As you can guess, although distributing articles over the net can help generating temporary traffic shares for domains, but by publishing the well written articles on your own website, the effects on your ranks would be even better in the long term, help adding to your site strength as well.
