I've had my website up for about 1 1/2 months maybe two. I have been building content and backlinks. I have proper keyword placement on my website and I cannot find my website anywhere on google?

There is an ezine article with the same keyword I'm targeting on the 3rd page of google. How could that be, but I am nowhere to be found?

I've been submitting articles, participating in relevant forums, and a few blog comments.

Google webmaster tools says that I have 136 links to my site.

I am on the second page of Bing and yahoo for my target keyword, but I'm worried more about google.

Is there a possibility google has just not yet updated it's SERP's?.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

You need more backlinks.. - That's just an assuption unless you are in a REEEAALLY easy competition scenario!

Are you using any sort of tool to track rankings or just looking in the actual search engines yourself?

I recommend using the free version of Traffic Travis if you don't have anything.

In my experience, Yahoo and Bing will rank your site first so I'd say you will be in Google within a few days with consistant backlinking.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I'm using google webmaster tools, and it shows me my avg position for different keywords. Not sure exactly how that works.

I know I probably need more backlinks (which I'm doing) but I still have a hard time believing I'm nowhere to be found in google.

In google analytics, it shows that I am getting traffic from google search engine for a few different keywords, but when I type them into google search bar I don't see my website anywhere. So I am not sure how people are getting to my site through google.

Most of my traffic is coming from yahoo and referring sites as of now.

I will keep consistantly building backlinks(of course) but I still have a hard time understanding why I'm nowhere to be found in google results.Yes, I am indexed in google.

Would it help if I social bookmarked my website on dofollows?

Google is tricky. I would just focus on quality content and quality backlinks. Your site might be too new for google to "trust". Read about the sandbox effect.

It depends on several factors...you might need some more tweaking.

First, check the keyword density .. ideal is b/w 4 and 4.5%..from my experience. Use the main keyword in title along with your site name. (don't stuff keywords..!)

Make some of the keywords bold and also as links. Also may be in H1 or H2 tag. It depends upon your site and content.

Use alt text for images wherever applicable .. again don't stuff keywords.

Your site should have unique content and should be updated weekly.

80% of your inbound links should be done with anchor text (main keywords). Try to get links from authority websites. Google looks for quality rather than quantity.

Don't add your link in pages with lots of spammy links. It will degrade your site value.

I got PR4 for a website with just around 100 inbound links.

Please keep in mind SEO optimization takes time and effort. Competition level of your target keywords is also a big factor.

I've covered all of those factors.

My website has very good quality content, and I'm also participating in a reputable, relevant forum every day.

I will just keep doing what I'm doing in hopes that sooner than later I will bump up to the front of google, or at least see my site somewhere in the reuslts.

    1. Is your keyword high competitive?

    2. How about your website's contents quality? Original? High quality?

    3. How many contents indexed by Google? Use "Site:yourwebsite.com" to check.

    4. Backlink's quality high? Do follow?

Check your website first, then add more high quality backlinks. It's normal for a new website that ranked out of 100 pages, just keep going.
