Can you be more specific with your question? The answer depends on what you want to achieve by interlinking.

Ah but you don't realize there apparently is no other kind of linking in SEO besides blog comments and profile links

You want to keep site visitors in mind.

    - Each page should allow user to go to home
    - Each page should allow user to visit your main category or product pages
    - You should link to pages from within your content if it helps the user learn more or understand the topic better

Yes. I haven't seen a site where you are unable to reach the homepage from deep pages.

Just look at this page. This page links to Home page, category page

I would do both, one link to the home page and other links to different pages. I could sue anchortext to link back or just another related posts plugin.

The best strategy is interlinking posts based on relevancy and with proper anchor text.

For example, if you are writing a post about a Pizza Shop and your blog is about pizza, you could then link to your other pages about the specific type of pizza you ate. Bad example, but I'm sure you understand.

If you are using wordpress there's tons of cool plugins out there that will handle your internal linking for you using categories, tags, keywords in posts, etc..

    RevSEO has it right.

When writing another post, if you touch upon something written from a previous post, link back to it. So if I am talking about Xbox 360 and I mention a game that I have reviewed in the past, I will link back to the game. This is true inner linking and helps the viewers find other interesting posts on your site. This is also the type of inner linking that Google approves of. What sense does it make to inner link to a PC only game when we are discussing xbox 360?
