type in google : google keyword tool
go to it then type in your keywords

it will tell you how many monthly searches for your keywords
some say it isnt accurate, some say it is, but the point is you will have an idea

maybe only ten folks are searching for your keywords each month

That's search result, not the monthly searches. Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Type in your keyword, choose "Locations: United States", click "search", tick [exact] under "match types".

Is it "exact" search? Or broad phrase?

i am not agree with this search. There is some problem in your keyword if your keyword is at first page then there is no chance that traffic is not coming.

I think you should first check its searches then decide.

Here's a couple of likely reasons:

    1) theres no search volume for the keyword - you need to go to the google keyword tool and search for your keyword and then use [exact] to get the most accurate amount of searches for that keyword.

    2) google personalised results - have you checked that google hasn't personalised your results, sometimes they might change the results so that you are first page because you've been on your own website a lot but you won't actually hold that position in the search engine.

May be at the time of keyword selection that keywords having more search volume and now it has not.
Once again check the ranking by deleting cookies.

Log out of your gmail account. If you are logged into your personal gmail account, google will put any website you've visited a lot on the front page for that website's search terms.
I myself was surprised one day when i typed in a keyword that Im trying to rank my current website for, and noticed that my site was showing up in the top 3 positions on google's first page. I knew it was a mistake because I had just checked my site's traffic 5 minutes prior, and it was still getting the usual low traffic that it normally gets daily. But when I logged out of my personal gmail account, the search results were set back to normal.

That's happened to me too. I got a huge surprise when I was suddenly in #2 spot for the keyword I most want to rank for. However, it turned out I was still on page #7!!!

May be the monthly searches per month are too low or your title line is not catchy enough.

Why you are always looking for US based exact search..
I agree for exact search (someones prefer phrase search) but why focalized on US and not all countries for the specified keyword??
and should limit the language to English or use All languages when using google keyword tool and google traffic estimator ?

    Thanks
