Dumb Windows VPS Question on Installation - HELP

Hello Everyone:

I am new to having a Windows VPS.

I am wondering how I install a program on it.

I have the remote desktop open.

But when I try to drag and drop the installation programs over to be installed, I am getting the not allowed button.

I know this must be really basic, but I am stumbling.

  • You can't drag and drop programs from your computer to a remote Windows VPS. If you want to install something, you should download the installation files (.exe) to your windows VPS and install them.

    • Charles, I would suggest you to consider a Windows VPS from a fully managed hosting provider. If you will consider a fully managed VPS everything will be installed by their techs on request.

  • As Chime mentioned, you cant simply drag and drop from your desktop to the VPS desktop. You'll need to send yourself the files somehow and then install them on your VPS.

    Dragging & dropping from desktop to VPS won't work.

  • Hi there,
    i recently bought a vps, for first time i should login using VNC, but i couldn't. i talked with support and they said there is no problem on the server,maybe unfortunately my network didn't allow me for port forwarding, so that i cannot use this app. now i am looking if someone can test it for me, to see if can connect trough VNC.
