for example, insurancecar.com as oppose to carinsurance. would you buy it? just an example, but can you rank 1 for a phrase if the domain is in reverse order. will it make a difference. in terms of seo/ranking only

You would only get the domain name insurancecar.com if people were searching for "insurance car". A simple search through the google keyword tool will tell you how many searches are done for "insurance car" vs "car insurance". The bottom line is you want to use whatever people are searching for exactly as they are searching for it.

For this example exact monthly searches for:

    car insurance > 823,000
    insurance car > 9,900

So, getting the domain insurancecar.com would be worth it. There are 9,900 monthly searches for the exact term "insurance car". Not bad

Too bad no one answered this, I'm looking for the same answer and I'm sure a lot of other people are.

Can anyone answer are there any benefits of owning a domain with keywords in reversed order?

I'm not sure on this. Obviously you're wanting the benefits of an exact match domain, however I'm not sure how much weight an exact match has these days anyway (it's often debated).

I will say that I've seen competitive markets where it's been like you've suggested... the exact keywords but in reverse order. They were ranking well but then did that have anything to do with the domain?

My guess is that it would just be like having the keyword in your domain name, but not an exact match. May be slightly better than a normal domain name with just the keyword in it but overall, I'd say it would be a small part of the ranking equation anyway.

My conclusion? If the domain sounds and looks right with the keywords in reverse then yes, get it. If it sounds ridiculous and looks spammy (like it would with multiple words) then pass.
