How is the backlink's importance for affiliate marketing?

I want to know whether backlink plays an important role for affiliate marketing or not. If it's a must, please give me more information.

    Backlinks are important for any site or page you are trying to get ranked in the search engines.

    So they apply to every website or business that is attempting to acquire traffic through the search engines.

    In the eyes of a search engine, backlinks basically act as 'votes' and the more you have, the better you will rank. Obviously this is a simplistic explanation as there are more factors that make up a backlink and its effectiveness. Such as Anchor Text, PR rank of site linking to you, number of banklinks, etc. There is quite a bit of information relating to backlinks that would take up much more than a post here.

    A warrior here has released a guide explaining backlink fundamentals. He explains what elements make up a banklink, how to use them, tools to help you with your backlink building, and more.

    It depends on what type of affiliate marketing you are doing. If you will be using SEO to make any of your money, then backlinks are the most important factor in your search engine rankings, which in turn determine your traffic, and more traffic means more money.

    I think this goes without saying. For any type of business, if you want to rank high on Google searches, you gotta do SEO and thus, backlinking. =)
