I"m finishing up on some keyword research and I read somewhere
that intitle inurl is your true competition how many of you think
is is true doing seo research.

    No, it isn't.

    Just because someone has your keyword in the title...doesn't mean they are your competition...after all, they might not be competing

        All those numbers you look at really mean nothing at all. How many pages have this or that is meaningless.

        A very small percentage of people ever make it off the first page when doing a search. This means that the only competition that really matters is on the first page.

        Look at the sites at #10, #5, and #1. Then you ask yourself two questions.

        Can I beat these guys? If the answer is yes. Will it be worth doing? ie: Will the amount of money I will make be worth the time and energy it will take to beat the sites in those three spots?

        If the answer is no to either of these questions you move on, if it is yes then you go for it.

    Hi, there are two types of competitors...Real world and virtual world (Internet world)... your competitor in the virtual world can be anyone... and your real world competitor may not even be there... for ex: if you are selling iphone skins... you may be competing with eBay or review sites...
    So competition in the virtual world in simple words is those on the top 10

    Basically, those that are on the first page on the search result for your main targeted keyword/phrase are definitely your competitors.

    I think it is almost impossible to give you an accurate response to your question, however, What you have originally asked, The inurl and Intitle can be some of your competitors if you do the search with both tags in...

    eg. inurl:"make money" intitle:"make money"

    BUT...

    You will see different results to what is on the first page of google for "make money" so really, that intitle and inurl search is not doing you any favors... try it and you will see for yourself.

    As this search query is missing a lot of other important factors such as the backlinks are not counted for, onpage SEO factors and other things
