Go to yahoo site explorer to find a competitors backlinks.

You also need to build a mixed variety of links from quality sources. Do this consistently and you should get top rankings.

About hubpages: For newbies there are "nofollow" in links. You must have hubber rank 75 and then "nofollow" will be removed.

Upload some video or picture on your website and let your visitor share it on their sites and social media sites, it will get you some links.

For this purpose you have to provide them HTML codes for sharing purpose. Your hosting bandwidth will be used as a result.

Links should be diversified. You should not depend only upon any single or just 2/3 methods. Try to get backlinks for your site from several sources. Contextual links generally work great for any website. Blogging, quality article writing and posting, social networking, forum posting etc. work great.
