Keywords in "Name" field of blog comment?

My experience:

When I already have my keywords ranking, a few high PR backlinks without targeted keyword (albeit domain PR only) have actually pushed my general keywords up higher.

It has been often thought that any links from high PR sites are great, but nonetheless, on sites that have yet ranked within the top 100 for my targeted keywords, high pr backlinks may work or may not work as smoothly.

The thing is, when Google understands the relevancy of your site, a high PR backlink is a boost. But when your site has no specific relevancy in their books, how are they gonna rank you for your "keyword"?

For instance, if you are targeting the keyword "fashion", but your site doesn't rank for it - probably because of lack of keywords density on your new site or content or otherwise - and then you built a high PR backlink to your site with the anchor text as, let's say, "super duper fashion chick eating Chinese noodles in London"...

Your site would have a much higher probability to rank for "super duper..." than "fashion".

It usually ends up being the anchor text for a link - so it does help but I would say only marginally.

The link will pass the same amount of 'juice' to your page but if you have the anchor KW it will pass it 'optimised for that' I suppose it's up to you which is better. Alot of non KW but approved links of less approwed links with KW?

Test out the system for yourself and see what works best for you. There are a lot of mixed results and so many other factors to take into consideration to get a simple yes or no. I try for keywords but if no one else on the site has keywords, I use my name.

The difference should be marginal, since an individual inner blog page won't pass on that much link juice. Also, having variety in anchor texts will strengthen your site's SERPs.

If you use keywords in the name field while blog commenting, then the comment is less likely to be approved ... Better if you use the below format

Your Name @ Your Keyword
Your Name | Your Keyword

Here's how I do it and I'm always approved, even on the heavyweight blogs.

1) I read the post AND actually add value when I answer. (or at least I think I do!)
2) I have mostly concert blogs, so I sign my name 'Concert Diva' 'Music Gal' or if I'm using the url for say.. my Atlanta site, I might say 'Atlanta Girl'

But you can do this with any niche. I think the main thing is you add enough value to the conversation that the blog owner gives you some grace on your name.

Like I said, I don't think I've ever not had my comment published.

p.s. I also generally add my name as a personal touch.

Here is what I do:
I read the whole post and write a good comment. In the name field I put my keyword only. I don't put my keyword in the body of the comment, this increases the chance of having the comment being approved.
If the blog has commentluv installed I'd go with Name @ Keyword
That's all I do for blog commenting, and I already see SERP improvements.
