Wow, lots of great information from Steve. regardless of not making the $100/day. For myself, if I could generate that $20/ dollars a day across 10 blogs that accomplishes a goal in and of itself. Thanks Steve |

@asher - I would recommend reading threads like this all the way through, making some money and then paying for ebooks you want when you have the money because asking for such steep discounts in this manner devalues yourself and the product if the vendor went down that route ( which I doubt he will because an ebook has a set price for a reason and it would be unfair to other buyers to offer a discount like that when they have paid full price ). Just my 2 cents. Dean |

Hi Steve, I need your clarification about the niche research I read on your ebook. Please give me some math about the "high cost, high search, high competition". I mean How much search do you consider as a "high search" compare to the competition and cost ? If it is possible, please give me some formula for those 3 component. high cost : high search :high competition = a : b :c Thanks Steve. -Pixel- BTW... How to contact you directly? |

Getting to $100 a month within that short period of time is hard but possible. It requires a lot of dedication and knowledge, definitely not for newbies imho. It simply takes time until you get search engine love and your SEO gets into gears. I started from scratch, knowing nothing and took me two years to get over $100 a day. Today I could the whole process much faster of course but in three months, I don't know. The obstacle I see is the search engine don't let you gain that much organic traffic that quickly. Even if I would 100% copy my sites and put them live in 1 day, even with 100% of the same backlinks, they still won't have the same ranking and traffic like my old sites for a long time. Gunter |

I don't want this to sound like a cop out but there are no hard and fast equations when it comes to what are good figures for cost, competition and search numbers. You have to look at each niche in isolation and then determine whether the numbers are good or not. The reason why it is difficult to give an exact equation is it depends heavily on the level that the competition is at for each niche. For example if the top ten in google for a certain niche consisted of wikipedia, amazon, ebay, target and a few other big guns then you would probably stand very little chance of ranking in the top 10 for that niche's main keyword phrases. However another niche with comparable search and competition numbers might have a top 10 full of sites that you could compete with. For this reason, numbers should be used as indicators only. If I found a niche that had searches of over 15000 monthly and competition for phrase match of less than 300000 and also had a good advertiser CPC, $3 or more perhaps it would be worth investigation for sure. However, if my research found a niche that had less searches, more competition and lower CPC but the level of competition was of less standard and I knew I could nail a top 10 spot easily then I would go for that also. The main point is to not turn down a niche based on just the numbers before checking out whether you can nail a top 10.

I like the niches that you have identified as being high paying however I've got to say thats a really saturated market already. I think that using wordpress though is a good move as it is a powerful blogging platform.

I just skimmed through this thread and even though the goal was not made. There are some very solid strategies in here. I use a lot of them myself. I recently discovered a niche which has a lot of potential and I may do something similar to what Steve did here. I don't want tp expose the niche, but I do need to set a goal for myself. I'm expecting to need about 200 articles to cover this and get the site maxed out and these are not counting any articles I will use for article marketing. I'm going to think about this for a day and see if I want to add to some of Steve's techniques here. |

Steve, are you still working on your site? Or is it on autopilot? FYI, I am no longer seeing it in the second page from India (and FYI, I did do my litle bit of research some weeks back to find the domain name of your site but of course shall not disclose it here). If I remember it was in the second page, something like the 14th or 15th position overall. Wanted to figure whether you still are at it to some extent, or is it an exercise totally over. It would be nice to find how far it went up on autopilot in the longer run.

Yes it has dropped down for the phrase European cruises but I guess it is all part of the Google dance. I am not worried as I am sure it will rise again, I have seen this many times before, up and down like a yoyo but eventually it will settle. The important thing is that I keep doing the right things which is get good backlinks and add new content. I have slowed down a lot with this blog but it is not on autopilot as such. I will do a report soon on my 100 bucks challenge blog.

Steve, Im hearing bad things about that translator plugin you use with regard to rankings.....something along the lines of your outer posts get deindexed and replaced by a corresponding number of foreign language posts over time and that the remaining posts don't feature as highly due to link juice dropping a directory level...also that adsense may not like the foreign language posts...... any thoughts/experiences?

As always it is very niche dependent and how much cpc you can get. Also, visitor behaviour is niche dependent as well. Certainly for the cruise niche I can get that sum of money from around 350 visitors on average. My cpc is good as is my ctr.. |

This is a very good question Anthony. I decided to experiment with the plugin and I have not seen any decent traffic at all from the translated pages. Also my adsense analytics tell me that they are not bringing in any income. Your point about google not liking the translations is very valid. I think i am going to ditch the translator!

Other people do use blogger and make money but you have to ask yourself whether you want to build your virtual real estate on a system that could pull the plug on you at a moments notice. For me, wordpress is by far the best system to use. |

Blogger is a good platform to dip your toes, but as Steve said if you want to build your business it is much better to own your online real estate than to risk having all your hard work disappear at the whim of someone else. Wordpress is also far more customizable with literally thousands of plugins to help you build the site you want.

I've only made it to Page 8 of this thread, so excuse me if this has already been covered. One of your publications states that: "Note that Google has limits as to how many Google ads can be used on your page! On one page, you may have three ad units, two search boxes, one link unit, and two referral units." Somewhere I saw the complete display of possible block sizes, or at least for the ad units, but can't find it again. I don't know if it was on Google or in one of the many pamphlets that come with your book. Can you point me to it? I'm just beginning a layout in a Wordpress theme, and am somewhat baffled by how to account for the eventual Adsense components, which will necessarily shift stuff around. Should the Max Banner Ads plug-in be used first, before any content goes in, and if so, does that mean there will be obvious voids in the site while building up some traffic before signing up with Adsense? Also, from your description above I'm not quite sure whether all the elements described are Google related. For example, the Theme I've started with has a search box, although I assume it's just for the site itself. So, is that counted as one, or does Google take that over, or are they talking about two entirely new search boxes they supply in addition to the one that's there? Does any of this have anything to do with other marketing companies? In other words, does Google count referrals from all sources, or just their own? Last, I think, there don't seem to be any rules regulating links to commercial sites from within the text of an article, or did I miss something? Thanks. |

Don't kid yourself. It can happen even with "self-hosted" WordPress. A hosting company can go out of business or have a massive system failure. A host can cancel your account for exceeding bandwidth. A domain registrar might decide you're a spammer or lose your renewal payment or something and drop your domain.

Hi Jeffrey, Your Google Adsense account has a page full of the various different ad types you can use. There is a link on your adsense setup page.. https://www.google.com/adsense/stati...AdFormats.html The max banner ads plugin does a good job of positioning. It doesn't matter so much about putting spacers in to help you with seeing where the adsense blocks will be, you can worry about that later. If you feel it would help then you could always place images in the positions you envisage just so you can get an idea. Also, if you want to use the bigger adsense blocks then you have to ensure that your wordpress theme has enough space for them to fit, just keep that in mind when you are designing your layout. The search box should be replaced by googles search box (if you want to use it). The seach functionality is configurable by you on the adsense search setup page. I am not sure I understand your last question but I assume you are referring to whether your content can include links to other commercial companies and stay with the Adsense TOS? Yes, you can link to who you like but just make sure they are "good neighbourhoods". You are ultimately responsible for who you link to.

Blogger is a cash cow for Google so it's not going anywhere. You just have to play within their rules and avoid things that cause the anti-spam bot's to lock your blog. Even when they do, it's pretty easy to get it back. Overall I find it's a good option for people who're short on cash and want to bootstrap a niche blogging business. | |

I do use blogger but I prefer to think of those blogs as feeder sites. I don't monetise them or anything but they do serve a purpose for attracting visitors to a well optimised article and then feeding them through to my main money site.

Steve, I thought you will be offering a boot camp for adsense with actual earnings. When will this happen? I bought your ebook and is writing articles right now but I don't know where I am heading. My cpc for the specific keyword is just $2.18 but its search volume is 90,500 and competition as I typed the keyword (between two quotes) in google is less than 30,000. I rank in the 13th page so far in Google. What do you think of my future with keeping on doing some backlinking and posting more?

Hi efrontiers, The bootcamp is coming but as I got started on the materials, it has kind of taken a new and better direction. It is going to concentrate more on building successful websites and monetization (including Adsense). The materials are taking me a lot longer than I had hoped but I want this to be the best.

Half way there.. It has been increasing day by day over the last few days. I need to start promoting my site for a number of other "big" keyword phrases and build up the traffic and income that way now as well. I will also dripfeed more and more content which will each target a new keyword phrase also. Whenever you hear someone talk about growing your site organically, this is essentially what it means. Just keep building good content focusing on good keyword phrases and then get your backlinks out there on many good websites to promote them.. Rinse and repeat. |
