I couldn't possibly say you are right Julia.. However, things haven't moved very far this week, in fact traffic has been slightly lower over the past few days for some reason which has had a small effect on the income to. It does happen with new sites that you get an initial boom in traffic as you get indexed and ranked but then google will drop some pages down the rankings for a while before you get your backlinks going. Some pages come back strong for the target keywords and others will languish. I will concentrate on the good performers more than the poor ones. I am confident that when I get my new content added and just keep plugging away with the promotion that I will see the upswing I need. I will be adding a full report to my 100 bucks challenge blog in the morning.

In my opinion it is possible to accomplish this if your choice of keywords is spot on, but you could make so much more if you found out which of the ads is pulling and start creating products that will sell without giving the majority of the money to Google.

I am amazed ! My pages get ranked in google within 40 to 50 mins... Yesterday i got ranked no 4 on google for a clickbank product name with 40,000 competing sites. This was within an hour !!!! This blog is only one week old and has no back link to it. If i don't do any back links will my rankings slip?

My domain is only one week old so i don't want to get sand boxed by Google. How many one way links should i put up and how often. I am planning on using articles with "articlemarketer.com" and 1 way blog links with "1waylinks.net" |

Thats really good Sarah, it may happen that you will lose some ranking but I have given up second guessing what google will do. You should most certainly embark on getting some good backlinks to keep your rankings high.

Just grow your backlinking slowly over time, do some reciprocal linking with willing webmasters, articles, blog comments, squidoo comments and lenses to name but a few. There is no set number to go for, but keep your anchor text varied between your target keywords also and don't throw up 100's of backlinks all at once and then nothing. |

"However, things haven't moved very far this week, in fact traffic has been slightly lower over the past few days for some reason which has had a small effect on the income to." I had some poor results over the last few days from some sites that have had Adsense on them from the day Google made it available. I think that it's just some advertisers pulling back on their budgets. It happens from time to time. Pearson |

The best is getting a webmaster to link to you from a 3rd website, so that you are linking to one site but his/her link is coming from an independent site of the one you are linking to. Just my two cents. Micheal

Awesome thread Steve! Been following it from the start, haven't posted until now though I'm getting ready to test your methods for myself. I'm far from being an adsense expert (and my CTR proves it!), but your tips should help me improve on that. I'm in the process of researching niches right now--thanks for showing us how to do that effectively Steve! Has anyone else out there put Steve's techniques to the test on a live site? I've read about a few of you in this thread, but anyone have updates on their own success? Please post... Keep up the good work Steve!!...And keep us informed of any updates on the membership front at your blog. |

I have to disagree with you here Michael. Reciprocal linking is okay so long as it is not done excessively. Used as part of a strategy to get backlinks it is fine but should be used in conjunction with getting quality 1 way links. However, I strongly disagree with you with regard to 3 way linking. Google see 3 way links as pure deception resulting in probable deindexing, simply put, they dont like link schemes.. I suggest you go and read googles webmaster guidelines to see what is good and bad practice. Link schemes - Webmasters/Site owners Help

From the link you posted there does not seem to be much support for your argument strongly disagreeing about 3 way linking. Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you.") That is what the article says. Your reciprocal links fall into the same category if you want to look at it that way.

The title of the article is "Link Schemes" and 3 way linking is a link scheme so it naturally follows that google will not like it. It is designed to deceive google and the other SE's into looking like 1 way links, otherwise why else would anyone go to the trouble of doing 3 way links? Reciprocal linking is actually mentioned in the article and like you say how do you know what is excessive? I don't, but the point is, it is not classed as a link scheme in itself. I don't overtly advertise for link exchanges personally but I will select a good selection of quality link partners. This is backed up by checking on some random keyword and looking at the top 10 in google. I can almost guarantee that you will see some sites doing reciprocal linking. I have tried many various link exchange schemes in the past and I have yet to see any that have really provided me with some really positive results apart from Linktator2 which has worked for a couple of test sites of mine.

Say, I have a website about cruises and another one about mortgages and I say to you, "hey steve, how about giving me a link from your cruise blog in return I have one about mortgages, would you like that one?" If you want to take it from Google's view point I don't see how that is materially worse than reciprocal linking. If they are on the same box with the same IP for example, and I know Google knows that, how is that worse?

None of us know exactly what Google considers 'excessive'. However, as Adsense publishers, we know that, as we start making significant sums of money, we are more likely to get a human eyeball inspection of our site by members of the Adsense team. My experience of these is that the inspectors are tough and demanding. I certainly wouldn't indulge in any linking scheme that they might consider in any way dodgy. The gain of using such a system would be outweighed by the pain of losing my livelihood :-( |

A cruise site might exchange links with vacation sites, travel sites, etc. A mortgage site might exchange links with credit sites, loan sites, etc.
One way links don't carry the "juice" they used to though they are still good. When site owners began massive reciprocal link campaigns, those links dropped in value with BigG - self-created one way links could also be devalued. That's another reason a variety of link strategies is best. Article marketing brings visitors but having links only from article directories is not sufficient. Too often we see advice arguing whether to do "this" or "that" for best SEO. Best answer many times is "do both" - but do both correctly. The link strategy that has worked best for me is various types of links added over time just as new content is added over time. kay

i did'nt read this thread yet, i just saw "artisteer" mentioned. I love it. I made some great adsense templates with it already - buts also good for other stuff. I also have ONE drupal site - and i just made a new template w/ artisteer for it: Internet Marketing - Affiliate Marketing - SEO - Webmaster Blog For my own "adsense experiment" i might probably use it too. |

your strategy is pretty much the same as on BHW forum where someone makes $15k with adsense/month. My mistake (with my x hundred blogs) is that i dont put too much thought into structure of a site. This time, for my adsense experiment, i try to plan beforehand, especially in regards to link/SEO structucure (Silo structure)...and i also try to get a unique article or two on it each day. I know that the niche i picked might be very tough, but this makes it more challenging. I also found a new source for articles which is extremely cheap (compared to my usual source)...i hope it works out quality-wise. |

I will be paying close attention to what you do here. Frankly, I have done what you are doing and have had great success selling Clickbank products on my niche sites, but I have never experienced any measurable benefit from the Adsense included on the same pages. I hope to learn something new and exciting from this thread. |

Really the best methods for Adsense for any site are just through experimentation. If you have long side bars, then sky scaper seems to work best for me. Or boxes. Then place 468 x 60 underneath posts so that it is a "last resort" for the reader - in case your original intention was for them to click on an affiliate link, and they dont. Also, I have found that using <div align=right></div> around the adsense code, and putting the ads to the right, in your actual post (or page text) that this works pretty well too. But it's different for everyone, so just experiment with different colors, formats and locations! |

But really the determining factor on how much you make is really based on traffic. If you want to make a lot with adsense, you either need a blog that gets A TON of traffic, has a lot of pages, or you have multiple Adsense blogs... |
