Been following this and I have a couple things to say. 1. Good work. You worked at it, you got what you got. The basic framework was laid, i believe with a bit of tweaking your goal could be reached. 2. and this to me is the most important thing. Yout stood behind what you were doing and even though you sold a book that talked up adsense riches, you came back and gave a free addendum to people who had already bought your book when things didnt work out. For that alone i commend you. That puts you head and shoulders above others that do the same thing and if nothing else shows me and everyone else that has followed this post that while you may have not been able to reach 100 a day, you are an honest person, not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes, and that will beat the hell out of $100 a day for your future projects. I'm a fan of anyone with backbone to try and integrity to look you in the eye if they don't succeed. And i wouldnt call this a 'failure'. Thomas edison tried and failed 2000 times before he finally made the filament lightbulb. When asked what he thought about failing 2000 times, he said he didnt fail 2000 times, he just found 2000 ways to NOT make the bulb Lastly, I'll take a $20 a day honest 'guru' over the fake guy with his picture sitting on the hood of a rented porsche in front of a house he doesnt own telling me how he'll show me how to make a million dollars in the next month. . |

Thanks Micheal, I appreciate what you are saying. The thing is, I am no different to anybody else, I am not a guru or anything like that, I am an ordinary guy who has tried many many different and diverse strategies for making money online. You are right I am selling a guide but the good thing is, I know that the guide and this thread can work for everyone who puts in a decent amount of effort. It's a cliche to say this but you really can do anything when you try. I have been doing this for a number of years so I generally know what works and what doesn't, I have tried blackhat, grey hat, blue hat, white hat you name the hat I have tried it. Everything I have been trying to demonstrate here in this thread is the culmination of my Adsense experiences. Thankfully I have never lost an Adsense account after my experimentations but I have come close. I hope that above anything else, everyone can get something from this thread however small or large that might be.

The point that is important (to me anyway) that in a market like IM where sometimes the B.S. is stacked to the ceiling, you could have very easily fudged numbers looked good and probably sold some wso's and nobody would have known the difference. But you didnt. You were truthful, transparent and honest. That is a big deal in any business, especially the net. I still think the basic concept of your idea is good...there is just something here that needs a little tweaking. Sort of like tasting a soup and you just cant quite put your finger on what it needs...might be salt, might be pepper. Its good now, could be better if you had.....something... |

Hey Steve - I've been following this from day 1 and, personally, I think it is great that you got it making $20 a day! In fact if you had started off by saying you were going to make $20 a day instead of $100 I think people still would have been pumped! Most of mine don't make that much - maybe I am an underachiever? LOL! The key is that you can just keep repeating the process to get it up to $100 or start another blog and get that up to $20 or any variation thereof. And you have given folks a workable plan and proved what hard work - and TAKING ACTION can achieve. Lee |

Like some others, I am very impressed that your blog has managed to get to $20 a day. I have a large site with plenty of traffic that is still building to $20 per day and I don't know when it will come. Im guessing when I get my CTR up from 0.7%, yeah you read that right. If I had a CTR of roughly 10% I would retire lol. Jim |

Hi Steve, Fascinating thread to follow. Just joined Warrior forum a few days ago and have spent most of my time here ploughing through this thread and your website ! Looking back you did a lot of social bookmarking early on - what other link building strategies do you rely on and what do you think of the relative effectiveness of the social bookmarking ? |

And we shouldn't forget that Google likes to mature their SERPs slowly. Steve's site, and the effort he put into it, is less than three months old. It's likely that, even if he just leaves it alone for now, the amount of search traffic he gets will increase. It's entirely possible that six months from now this site will be pulling in forty plus dollars a day. |

That is definetely true, things like page rank indicators, backlink numbers are usually around a couple of months behind the real and current state.

Besides building a quality site, you have to choose the right area. Travel, medical and some others have very high eyeballs as well as clicks. so first choose your domain. |

I will be doing both to be honest. Now that the european cruise blog is ticking over nicely I can just add a bit of content every now and again, get a couple of backlinks every so often which won't take very much of my time. I can also start on other blogs in an effort to keep building the empire. It isn't a race and out of all of this maybe the biggest lesson I have learned is that it is a bit silly to try and rush things. It is far more beneficial and also better to do things right as opposed to quickly. |

This is just my opinion, if you build another site it could be many more times as successful with the same amount of work. Therefore as I am doing now, Im building 3 sites in 3 completely different niches with the same amount of promotion and I'll see which one works best and build further on that. By building another site you may find a super hot highly in demand niche so I think its better to diversify at first. |

I disagree. Once you have a site with PR5 or PR6 and a number one slot in Google, you have a lot of 'love' you can give to other sites. I would concentrate on one site for at least three months as Steve has done. This one hasn't worked out too well (but not too badly either) That's the only way to discover if the site has the potential to be a market leader. Pearson |

I've been following this thread now and then. My 2 cents; do your research, check to make sure there are relevant adsense ads in your niche, I'm seeing less relevant adsense ads in certain niche because of the financial situation. make many websites in different niches seo takes some time, and see which ones have a good click-thru rate because some niches just have higher click thrus than others, just human behavior. focus on the winners and forget the losers one of my sites make $15.00 a day consistently with 200 pages, my plan is to get it up to 500 pages, I also just started 6 new sites in 2009 and plan to create 6 more in 2009. good luck everyone =) |

Hi Steve. Congratulations on this tread. My name is Damian Gonzalez and I'm from Argentina. I do not speak much English and is currently being translated Google Translate me to write these lines. I have read most of the tread and your blog helped by the toolkit, Google, And I've learned a lot with you. I have a blog on the stock market and am preparing one with a niche that I think I've found, but I think there is much competition. Best regards. |

Great stuff! I would like to try my hand at Adsense now that I see what can be possible. One question, Steve mentioned trying to do something in an area of interest. I have read others mention various topics. I'm a huge sports nut in the U.S. (especially baseball and American football). Do you think I could attempt something in that niche and make a decent per day Adsense income? Mike M. |

If your passion means that you can write some quality content and enthuse your visitors then of course you can. You can make money with almost any niche with Adsense but obviously to varying degrees. If you write enough pages and get enough visitors you will make good money there is no doubt about that.

Another factor is that sports team traffic often isn't buying targeted but informational/social targeted. This means that you have visitors that are interested in learning more about their team or discussing the latest game, they aren't looking to buy anything. Buyer targeting for team sports niches means things like souvenirs, memorabilia and event tickets. It's not all that enjoyable as discussing the latest scores from a social standpoint but it can be quite profitable, just not so much with Adsense. | |

It's not often I disagree with you bgmacaw but I do on this area. I do agree that affiliate products offer even more scope for this type of sports site but there is definitely good Adsense money to be made also. I used to have a simple junky site that had Adsense on it based on a UK football team. It was just a few pages of crappy articles, not something I was proud of but it pulled in around a dollar a day in Adsense. The CPC wasn't brilliant but the visitor numbers more than made up for that. Take baseball for example, the number of searches conducted on baseball generally is massive, the challenge is to find a niche to target. I am sure if Mike M was to create a baseball related site it would be succesful and the best thing is he would be interested in it enough to give it everything he has.

I built a blog for my son 6 months ago. It's a Canadian Hockey Team blog. PR 2. 70 to 90 average unique visits per day.... 12 to 16.00 per day in adsense (with a poor CTR). That blog buys some of his hockey equipment now - nice little bit of irony. So, depending on how much you think means "making money with adsense", there is an income to be had in sports sites. It is worth noting that most sports blogs and adsense sites have a seasonal factor to earnings. On the upside, if you pick a winning franchise you can really make a killing in affiliate sales (along with the adsense) |

Thanks very much Steve, Although you did not reach the set target for the Challenge, I still applaud you for taking this momentous task and showing all of us who really don't know much on how to blog and run an adsense site or blog. It did show me now that you can achieve a lot with adsense if done right. If you have money to have people write articles for you this can make you a lot of money. I mean 600.00 dollars a month times say 10 sites like that can handsomely pay you a lot. I Remain, Oling |

You've helped a tremendous number of people during this time. (And still are) Even if you didn't reach your own goal, you can certainly be proud of all you've accomplished. Great job Steve! And like someone mentioned earlier, even though your Adsense isn't currently at the $100/day level, as more time goes by you'll most likely see it continue to go higher. |
