Would you create a site just for long-tail-keywords?

I want to make a niche site on a product that is very expensive, but the keywords I want to optimize towards is very hard. I thought that maybe if I put a lot of articles then I can go for the long-tail-keywords.

Has anyone here created a site just for hope that you will get traffic from long tail keywords?

I guess that would depend on the keyword your targeting. If the long tail keyword is getting a lot of searches and making a niche site makes sense for that keyword then I'd say go for it.

But I would say you're probably better off finding a more or market specific term to focus your site's theme on and then within the site target to your long tail keywords.

As an example I would not try to go for the golf market but I would consider going for the golf clubs market. If I create a site that's specific for golf clubs then I can target all the long tail phrases that are associated with golf clubs.

This would be a much better approach in my opinion.

    • I personally wouldn't. You will find that even if you target one main keyword, you will get traffic from all sorts of long tail keywords. If you're not using it already, get Google analytics installed on your site and you will see that your search traffic comes from some terms you didn't even optimize for.

Create a page with that long tail keyword on your site and put in some great content. Within that page you have created, link back to your home page with that long tail keyword.

Do a few more posts with that long tail keyword in the post titles, link to that page of yours and site randomly. One or 2 links per post here.

Then build a quality 2.0 for that long tail keyword. Link that back to your site with the keyword. Build powerful backlinks to your page, posts and 2.0. Within 2 weeks you could dominate the niche if it aint too competitive.

    Hope that helps,

    Haruka

PS: By quality 2.0 I mean you write 4 or 5 posts/pages unique and informative quality content. Add in pictures and vids if necessary. Go to fiverr.com and grab a $5 video if couldn't make one. Put in some ads too.

Powerful backlinks: all kinds of backlinks there is. Bookmarks, comments, profiles, articles, links from statsites, etc.

You can easily get rankings for long tail keywords, the only thing require is you have to well optimize your website. Perform keywords research and then on page optimization of website. This will help in easy indexing of website. After that with less off page efforts you can achieve rankings.

I have done both. Created a site just around the particular long tail keyword, and created a page for the long tail keyword.

The reason I created the site was that after checking my stats and my conversions, I realized that particular long tail keyword was generating the majority of my sales, so I was lucky enough to be able to get the exact name domain for it.

Once I had the exact name domain, I was pretty much guaranteed to rank for that long tail keyword term easily.

You need to decide what your trying to do, and if it makes sense to you. I would suggest making a site for every single long tail keyword term for your market unless you knew that those particular long tail keyword terms were responsible for your conversions. You need to track it and test it first.

    Hope that helps.
