hi guys,

is anyone else in the same boat? I've started a website and made a few links. the site is crawled by google at least once every 24 hours and the site is updated everyday.

I have started a pay per click campaign on facebook and its been going great, however I still have not received any inbound hits from google.

is this normal?

by the way my site is a month old.

I'd check to make sure you don't have noindex/nofollow on the pages and that robots.txt is configured correctly. Although you generally don't get much traffic in early days, you should get the occasional visitor.

When you do a search for your site name, are you listed in the results?

Yes, it's normal. Now you need to work on your link building, on site SEO etc. to get the traffic flowing. You'll find lots of posts and WSO here that will set you in the right direction. Consider joining the War Room too, there's plenty of good advice there.

You can install Google analytics it goes a long way in showing the activities in your site. which pages have the largest number of visitors, clicks, etc. Its a handy tool.

To tell you the truth, that does sound a little strange.

I don't know exactly what the reason could be but I use wordpress as CMS and then I have the following plugins installed:
    cbnet ping optimizer
    Google XML sitemaps
SEO Platinum pack or All in one SEO pack

My sites usually start getting a little bit of traffic as soon as their indexed in google.

    Hope this helps

You should be seeing some visitors soon and yes this is normal. Once your site moves up in the Google rankings you will start you see more visitors coming to your site but it does take a little time.

yeah if your website is indexed in Google then their is nothing to worry. You will start getting traffic once your position improves in SERP. Also check for nofollow tag. And start link building as sometimes you don't get good traffic from paid ads.

Lots of Advice, some good some well, Bad,

But take this as you will, you should be seeing spiders all over your website, every hour, in some cases every 5 minutes, but you have to have frequent updates with unique and valuable content, this will get the spiders moving in your direction, once a day, is not a good thing, if you want lots of traffic, you need frequent updated content with fresh unique and valuable content that is how you get the best results.

    combine your approach,

    Content, (unique and valuable)

update that content with more unique and valuable content.

Do some back-linking, with (yes you got it, unique and valuable content)

Avoid automated methods of back linking, sure way to get banned, do a little work and you will see results,

Take the short route to success, and you may see short term success but it will not last, Just today got an email promoting a (famous or infamous, take your pick)

Guru here marketing an auto backlinking product, that when the next update to google comes out will very likely get your website Banned in google, but hey what do I know I have only been doing this for 20 years.

I really hate to see warriors promoting junk, but just know if it sounds too good to be true, like "get millions of back links in ten seconds or less"

Then you know the rest of the story, as ol, Paul Harvey used to say, there is no free lunch folks, it takes effort but when you put a little effort into what your doing you will see real results.

If you are using wordpress, PM me and I will send you a PDF on a great method of driving real traffic to your website.

I took a quick look at the home page for your site. My guess is that googlebot could live on your site, and you might not see much traffic.

The subject matter is all over the place, with topics from (as I write this) 'best guacamole recipe' to 'status of women's rights in Romania'.

How the heck is any poor computer supposed to figure out what searches your site might be relevant for?

I like the premise, but unless you can figure a way to compartmentalize your content so that blocks of content are relevant to things people search for, your best bet is going to be focusing on non-SEO traffic.
