  The post is low-level, common knowledge, at best.

I'm sorry but the link you've given gives pretty basic knowledge, it doesn't give in depth ways to get traffic. They've basically said make a profile and advertise. That's pretty useless, surely we know that stuff? Yes...advertising will give traffic...please name me someone who doesn't know that.

To be honest I think if you're going to pay for traffic then adwords would be WAY more useful for traffic. You get to rank for a keyword so you get RELEVANT traffic

I use facebook for decent traffic to niche interests posts. I have wine facebook page with 17000+ (and growing) likes and every wine post (inc. wine book amazon ads) I make feeds to it. Sold a good few wine books :-)

Eh the good old days of facebook are gone.

Sure it's still profitable, but last year I had accumulated over 10 million fans over 15-20 fanpages in only 2 months. I banked huge. Nowadays fanpages aren't even a tenth as profitable as they were in the old days.

sometimes, it has something to do with what your site is all about. If there's nothing interesting in your site, whatever methods you use will is useless. So we must first focus on making our site more interesting before we promote it to generate traffic.
