A quick question about Link Pyramids.

Lets say I want to rank high for "how to play guitar" how should my pyramid anchor text look like?

Should the "200" links poining to my money site say "how to play guitar" which is what I want to rank for? But what should layer 2's anchor text say that I will blast those 200 with 10k? The same keyword phrase which is "how to play guitar"? Or maybe something longer like "learn how to play guitar"? Thanks

The tier 1 links pointing to your money site should have the anchor text "how to play guitar" and the tier 2 links could have a combination of "how to play guitar" and "learn how to play the guitar".

The biggest thing is that you need to make sure that your tier 1 links have the your keyword as the anchor text.

Does anyone else agree with this who does link pyramids? I know with closed web2.0 link wheels they keep the same anchor text when linking from one property to another. Why is this different?

    Tough niche dude..Good luck

    Ok to answer your questions.

The links should be mostly your keyword but I would throw in some related ones as well. I personally would go 90/10 or 80/20 percentages as that is how I normally go though I very rarely build a site with just one keyword I usually set them up for about 10 or so. If you want to target two keywords split the larger percentage between them with just a few other related ones to make it look good.

The links farther up in the pyramid should have about the same percentages, basically you are trying to pass down those links to your main site so the keywords used should be the same.

When you build your pyramids do not make them all identical in structure. Place your social bookmarks, profile links etc in different layers , just try to randomize things a bit.

Layer 2 links are simple. Do a Google Suggest or Google Wonderwheel scrape by entering the keyword you want to rank. ie. enter 'how to play guitar' into Wonderwheel and use the results as tier 2 anchors.

Just one way to do it.

Ditto to all the above ... with one exception ...

I'd go for the keyword: "how to play the ukulele" ....

There's much less competition (much easier to rank).

    Just kidding.

    Best wishes.
