I'm thinking about buying Wordpress on Godaddy for 4.49 a month. Does anyone have WP hosted on Godaddy? If so, what do you think of it?

  • buying Wordpress? Please elaborate ....
  • Godaddy is offering 4.49 a month to host Wordpress. Just go to Godaddy and see what they are talking about.
  • I do and I am not very happy with it. I am looking now to see if there are faster servers out there. I have done everything I know to speed up my site, but its not working. I have heard many different things about them. I am thinking of switching to Host Gator. I will hold off to see what else everyone else says.

    • I have about 5 wordpress blogs hosted with the Godaddy wordpress plan. I have no complaints so far. My pages load fine and I found a coupon on fatwallet for it.
  • I don't hav eany problem with using wordpress with godaddy.
  • I use Hostgator and setting up a Wordpress blog takes about 5mins. And they are considered a much more reliable host than Godaddy ...

They offer unlimited domains, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space.

Also, why would you need a special plan for Wordpress?

    • I have one blog on Godaddy... and that's because I didn't discover HostGator at that time.

GoDaddy will charge you for everything, while Hostgator is cheaper, better, faster and you can add as many domains and WP installations as you want.

  • Yeah I use Hostgator as well, never had any problems with them and I have 7 sites hosted all with wordpress.............. and they dont charge extra for wordpress, godaddy does? i was going to look into godaddy but if they charge for WP i guess there is no need to.
  • Well yea.. I've been with Godaddy for 2 years now no problem.
The price is right, maybe not better than allot out there but you're surly getting your quality...
  • I can't stand GoDaddy. The interface sucks and they are ALWAYS hawing something.

I use namecheap. Simple, cheap, reliable.

    • This is EXACTLY what I was going to post about godaddy! The interface was very frustrating to say the least.

I totally love namecheap for my domain name management, but I've never hosted my sites through them. The hosting account I use now is hostmonster and it fits my needs just fine. HTH and good luck!
  • $4.50/mo to host Wordpress is a huge rip off in my opinion. Why not get a proper host with unlimited space, bandwidth, and proper Cpanel admin panel to manage your website? It's the industry standard. Hosts like that only cost $3-4/mo and thats a host that is a) reliable b) fast and c) lets you upload and access a LOT more features than GoDaddy gives you for $4.50/mo.

I find GoDaddy to be quite annoying how they upsell you every moment they get. Trying to register a domain name on GoDaddy takes so long having to opt out and bypass all their upsells. I personally prefer NameCheap.com, much cleaner process and no upsells.
  • If you aren't already with Godaddy I highly recommend you use a different web hosting company for your Wordpress site(s).

    • We like to think we have very competitive pricing and services. We are the number one hosting provider in North America and are here 24/7 to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. Our WordPress hosting isn't a different type of hosting or anything like that, the difference is that it includes WordPress preinstalled during the set up of the account compared to our other hosting plans that do not . ^Colby Go Daddy Social Media Team
  • Most hosts will automatically install WordPress onto your site.
Are you asking if $4.49 a month is a good deal?
  • FWIW, I tried hosting on GoDaddy before. I will no longer use them as a registrar, or a host. I like NameCheap for registering (much less cluttered interface and doesn't prompt for all these extra add-ons), and use HostGator for hosting/using WordPress on my sites. No problems with HostGator, and any time there's been an issue, they've been right there to help.

I found loading time on GoDaddy very slow. Just my experience.
  • You pay for the Godaddy hosting, what you do with your domain after that is up to you. I host all my sites with godaddy and wordpress set up is free. You don't pay any extra for using wordpress.

  • I have no problem with using go daddy and wordpress. works fine to my site.

if given a chance, my second choice would be bluehost.

    • I get more calls from clients requesting cleanups after a hack on Godaddy hosting than any of the other popular hosts, and I refuse to take on any more clients that insist on using their hosting because it's 20 times more difficult than it should be to secure and/or clean up. It's my experience that their support center won't support you when trying to secure your space if you have one of their cheap hosting plans. But I'm sure they have an upgrade for that... $$$
  • Just pay for the hosting and that's it. WP itself is free, no need to pay for it.
  • No offense but anything with GoDaddy, definitely is a big NONO to me. I've been with them for sometime and I've made my switch to others. They have bad support and everytime they will try to upsell you without really putting the effort to solve your problems. If you want to host wordpress, maybe you can try WordPress Hosting | WPWebHost
  • I say to get a baby account with Hostgator. As you add websites at a later point, you'll have access to put Wordpress on all of the sites without added fees.
  • Using the Metropolis site within the Hosting Account area on GoDaddy, you can have WordPress 2.1 installed for you. However, you have to install 2.2 yourself.
  • im okie with godaddy...so far so good...
  • Wordpress on godaddy is fine for me.
  • Buying word press in just 4.45$ /months ? . But I did not sell the word press then how can you buy ?
Just joking . no one buy wordpress . we buy hosting and install wordress CMS script .
  • Hostgator is easier and more reliable than Godaddy, and it has a nice control panel.
  • Its really quite silly to say hosting wordpress on Godaddy

Wordpress is just a blogging platform that can be hosted anywhere, you can choose any host

I agree about Godaddy not liking them
they have slimey business ethics if you ask me. They will steal your domains in a heartbeat if you host your domains with them, or should I say register the domains with their registrar service. I would NOT recommend any business relationship with Godaddy, They prey on newbies apparently with this "host wordpress on Godadddy" promotion.

You can upload wordpress in one button on most hosts, to any new domain.

Who do I recommend for a host?
    Cyberwurx
Their reputation is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for customer service. I pay I think 6 bucks a month for the entry level plan and I LOVE CYBERWURX

I dont think you will EVER hear anyone badmouth Cyberwurx. You can find Godaddy Horror stories I bet 100s of websites if you just google it , you wont be able to read all the complaints. They are absolutely Charlatans, scammers, if you ask me. Do not host with them

    • I use GoDaddy to host (shared hosting) WP blogs, no complaints so far. Sometimes the sites are slow late night (PST), probably doing their maintenance work.
  • If you have domains you purchased with Godaddy and registered with them just be careful
if you forget to renew them, they will NOT let you pay the renewal registration fee they will hit you with some outrageous 200 dollar trumped up fee, and then try to steal and auction your domain. Dont believe me? google godaddy complaints
