Everyone is Focusing on Backlinks... Don't Forget the Importance of INTERNAL
LINKS.
Internal links are actually some of the best kinds of links that you
can build for yourself. Google sees them as relevant, and they will always give
you a huge boost in your rankings.

In fact, the VERY first website I built ranked #3 for "Perfect Pushups" within
Google, and had 0 backlinks.

UPDATE:

I know what I said above is extremely short and to the point. To expand a little bit,
you should always link your related articles together.

One way you can start doing this is with core + sub articles.

For example:

Your core article could be Pull Up Bars.

Your sub articles would then be all the different types of pull up bars:

1. Free standing pull up bars.
2. Wall mounted pull up bars.
3. Ceiling mounted pull up bars.
4. And so on...

You would then link all of the sub articles together, while also pointing
them back to your core article. This is a strategy that I actually use
for my READERS, since the posts are all related. And what's good for
your readers in this case, actually helps boost your rankings in the
search engines.

PS: Remember - Link juice is NOT split between links. A lot of people
assume that 1 link means 100% of the link juice will go to that link. 2
links means 50% will go to one page, and 50% to another... and so
on. Each page will get 100% of the benefit.

Finally, I recommend posting the links at the bottom of each post,
and title the links "related posts." Then, write a 50 word description
of the link.

TIP: Use PHP Includes so you only have to worry about editing 1 file.

Agreed, internal linking is very important!

Here is a thread ( http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...umb-trick.html ) I posted a while back on how to tweak your Google SERP description/url with only internal linking.

This tweak is very easy to do, & as you can see in my screenshots in the other thread it just looks better than a plain url, plus you have full control over the SERP URL anchor-text.

Internal linking is also how you get double listings in the SERPs for the same keyword.

I read that post when you first did it, and I had no idea what you were talking about. I see "www.java2s.com › JavaScript Reference › Javascript Objects" and have no idea what that means.

It doesn't look to me like you explained how this is done in that thread, or maybe the blue text was meant to explain it, and I didn't understand it.

If you would like to explain it further, I would like to see that.

Ok, I'll update the other thread to help explain...

Very interesting. going to check out Yukon's post in the morning and try to master the technique. I did have great internal linking but......still have not seen a case of two different pages of my site on the first page. Will keep on trying though! thanks for the tips.

I can personally vouch that this method is indeed very true.

I also have experience with sites/2.0s that ranking Top 10 for ~50k exact competitions without much backlinks - just a few bookmarks to get them started.

My secondary keyword, which is much tougher with ~700k competitions, ranked 30+ too along with my primary keyword.

Just add in a little bit more info:
    ~700 words unique article
    ~3 posts/pages (4 could do too)
~Focus on a keyword each post
    ~Keyword density of 1.6 - 2.0 %
~Related keywords mentioned 2 or 3 times throughout.
~Keywords in plural and singular where necessary

    Hope this helps,
    Haruka
