I was reading something about Domains in SEOMOZ site where SEOMOZ mentioned that .cc, .ws .info type domains are spam indicators.

I don't have any experience with SEOMOZ, but in general it is a good idea to start with a .com and then pick up the extra extensions as redirects.

Most would agree that .com, .net and .org are the top three most desirable domain extensions. Both in terms of ability to rank and resale value ...

Local domains are also good for getting traffics from certain communities.
For example .de, .fr, ... are also desirable for sites targetting special nations.
They will rank higher than .com and .org in Germany and France respectively if
    other conditions are the same.

Do you get much traffic to the redirect domains?

How do you drive traffic to visit a redirected domain using SEO?

As the redirect domain does not have any content to attract traffic,
how does it get listed in the SERPS?

Would you use this tatic for landing pages + forum marketing or relevant
PPC campaing to drive traffic, rather than a regular blog?

      Thanks Warriors

Extensions that shows the geographic locations are best for ranking regionally. If a website is only to rank in a particular location, the location based would be the best. For global promotion .com is unbeatable..

It depends on your purpose - with the new Google updates you need to create a 'community site' if you want to dominate the search engines - you need to brand and to do that I still think a .com is probably where you want to go, but avoid keyword-keyword-keyword and go for something memorable and brand able.

Second level in my opinion are .net and .org, but like others have said on this forum a quality .info site can easily out rank a rubbish .com

Would be interested to see if anyone has done any testing to see if keyword match domains have suffered much in latest update or not.

I wouldn't make much fuss about it.

.ws and .cc are simply Internet country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) for Samoa and Cocos Islands respectively, with .ws is mostly used for warez content. There is nothing wrong with .info - lots of .info websites rank high in Google if they are not spam.

Most of the sites using .com rank well on Google so I can really recommend using this TLD.

.com, .net, .org, .gov and .edu are good to start with. Google recently crawling on .gov & .edu, you have more chance to get good position on google if you go with .edu domains.

Google really only praises three types: .com, .net, and .org. Sometimes you get a .info with good rank.

Local domain names will often rank better in your local country. I.e. .com.au will rank better in Google.com.au...

Why do people misread the question, and go off on a tangent?

In google's eye, it makes no difference.

In people's eyes, they have a warped sense of what a machine
likes or dislikes. So you get a whole bunch of answers that have
      nothing to do with google.

It's what you do with the domain.

.com is gold but some of my .info website do rank on google. I think the problem with .info domain is that they have less value as compared to .com, .net, .org...
