Google now considers page loading speed as one of the many factors for ranking web pages in search results. Does this mean I should switch my blog to a faster, and more expensive, web host or even consider using a CDN (like Amazon S3)?

Google has been considering page loading speed since a while! However, this factor is crucial in ranking. No need to change your hosting, simply use a caching plugin. Using wordpress, get a look on wp super cache or total cache.

      Hi Guys,

Where have you been? This is old news, it didn't just start a few days ago. Google publicly announced this Friday, April 09, 2010 at 11:00 AM. That is well over a year ago.

Page load speed has been a factor for over a year now. This is hardly news.

With that in mind, it seems to have become increasingly important post-panda, although I think it might just be comparatively, since a lot of other ranking factors have dropped in importance.

This is something that has been going on a while. Just make sure that you are using something like gzip and you should be ok. There are many site loader checkers out there. I know that after playing around I ended up changing hosts due to my load speed.

Speed of page loading is tested for a while from "G". I believe that is now one of ???? factors which determine Your rankings.

If you are running a Wp site get one of the cache plugins that Juniorich recommends. I am using WP super cache and it works really well
