It really depends on if you want to mainly rank in the uk or if you want to rank globally. If you are happy with mostly UK traffic then go for .co.uk. BTW how could you find a 300000 exact searches keyword that is not competive?

I would stick with the co.uk and you will find that you will also rank of .com.

I am 2nd page of google for example for internet marketing services on .com and in the uk page 1.

If you get a local one you get both though if you start with .com it is harder to rank locally at the same time.

@mattsimons, i do not use number of competitive pages as a reliable source. i usual go through the first page of the keyword i want to rank for, browse through the backlinks, do anchor text analysis, and check the keyword density. you will notice some of the sites have a very low keyword density, very view backlinks with the keyword anchor texts, and the only reason they rank high is because of the pr/linkjuice. however for the particular keyword they can be beaten. take for example medicinet.com is everywhere. they can be beaten easily because the relevancy score is low.
