Is it worth putting a few hours into making a few hubs/lenses on each about my niche and linking back to my site? I have never used either of these and wondering if anyone has some advice on it, normally just stick to ezine. Thanks!

Yes, it's still worth it, maybe not as much if your content isn't great and unique, but it still has SEO value. And brings it traffic.

I plan on it all being unique and original high quality content, so that shouldn't be an issue. Are you allowed to link your content on the two of them?

Yes you can create account there and write articles for quality backlinks...But do first read there new policy as they(hubpages) have updated due to so many spams..
Squidoo, you can create lenses and get quality backlinks from there too..

Yes, it's worth it. I have had much better success with Squidoo than Hubpages, HP is much more fussy about the links you put in, they will nofollow them if your personal "hubscore" is less than 75, and HP took a big slap recently... but if you can get past all that they can improve your link diversity.

I had 300+ hubs on HubPages ranking on page one. Not a whole lot of work, wrote one hub a day based off previous keyword research in my spare time. Then panda hit. The pages were quality content, however, they've all been pushed down the SERPs.

I'm not going to delete them, but I certainly won't be building anymore in the near future.

I know, HubPages was dramatically impacted. I like the ownership...and, I think they are resilient and will bounce back. They are better than most sites out there. I know there are some who say not to touch a site like HubPages with a 50 foot pole, however, there is a huge degree of search engine authority that can be achieved by utilizing a site like that.

I definitely don't think you should delete them. HubPages is working hard to restructure itself in a way that it hopes will help its content to be viewed in a more positive light by Google. This is why its so important to anticipate trends, and concentrate energy around sites that have active quality control processes.

Oh I won't be deleting them. They can sit there and collect dust for all care. I've moved on. I was making some good money with Adsense and Amazon doing it, but after Panda hit the gravy train ran out.

It wasn't too killer as some of the less popular hubs have come back alive, so I'll hold out hope that the others will as well. When it first happened I was really bummed, but I didn't really LOSE anything, as the income will eventually come back when HubPages get's things figured out.

Pre Panda, I used Squiddo, Blogger. Wordpress.com, Hubpages and LiveJournal to build the inner hub of my link-wheel for my niche sites. Since Panda I've 86'd Hubpages and LiveJournal but still use the other three.

Creating a lens or mini-blog is not as time consuming as writing a full article so I keep it my bag of tricks. If Panda taught me anything, it's to stay as diversified as possible.

Hub Pages and Squidoo is great way to get back links and their PR is too much high and authentic way to publish your articles.
